A Teesside based product manufacturer and global supplier of fire, blast and radiant heat protection systems has delivered a contract for Statoil (STO)’s £1.5 billion ($1.9bln) Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project.

Located 20 miles off the coast of the seaside town of Cromer, Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd was commissioned to design, manufacture and supply its fire and blast walls, which will play a vital role in safely harnessing offshore wind to power more than 410,000 homes in the U.K.

Awarded by Suffolk based offshore energy specialists – Sembmarine SLP – the engineering company provided a full turnkey service to supply fire and blast walls with 1,350m stressed skin panels.

Due to become operational by the second half of 2017, Dudgeon – one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms – is a joint venture between Norwegian based energy companies Statoil and Statkraft, as well as Masdar, an international investor in renewable energy and sustainable technology.

The contract win adds to Mech-Tool Engineering’s already extensive portfolio supplying world class fire and blast solutions to major renewable projects across the globe. The company recently announced it will be supplying fire and blast walls to be deployed on the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, a contract awarded by leading engineering and fabrication specialists Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG).
