Kongsberg RIM for Statoil Field in Brazil
Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies do Brasil Ltda., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (KONGSBERG), has been awarded a contract for delivery of flexible Riser Integrity Management (RIM) services to the Statoil Brasil Óleo e Gás Ltda. operated Peregrino field.
The contract is a Framework Agreement for four years where Statoil has the option to extend the duration of the contract by up to two periods of one year each.
Main scope of work is related to annulus testing, inspection, integrity assessment and follow up of the flexible risers, including technical support. As part of this work, a yearly assessment of the flexible riser system integrity will be provided.
The scope of work is the same as covered by the frame agreement between KONGSBERG and Statoil Petroleum AS (awarded June 20, 2012) where KONGSBERG is providing RIM services to eight of Statoil’s floating installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
In addition to Statoil, KONGSBERG has for several years been working closely with major operators including Total, Talisman, NAM, ExxonMobil and Chevron (CVX) on tasks and challenges related to RIM services.
The contract in Brazil will be managed and run by KONGSBERG in Rio, with the support of engineers from the Houston office and the head office in Norway. The local KONGSBERG office in Rio will provide significant efficiencies due to close proximity to the customer and the Peregrino field itself.
“In addition to our well known technical expertise within flexible riser technology, we are pleased to see that Statoil also recognizes KONGSBERG’s operational experience and knowledge obtained through several projects both for Statoil and other major operators,” comments Torgrim Andersen, Department Manager Riser Engineering, Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies .
“Our commitment to deliver RIM services to the same high standards as we do in Norway is imperative to this agreement, especially since this is one of the two first fully Statoil operated fields outside the NCS,” comments Serge Brun, General Manager of Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies do Brasil.
