Kongsberg Chosen for Johan Castberg Project

Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies AS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (KONGSBERG), has been awarded a contract for delivery of Extended Concept Study and Pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to the Statoil (STO) Johan Castberg project in the Barents Sea. The project comprises the development of the oil fields Skrugard, Havis and Drivis in Production Licence 532, approximately 230 km North West of North Cape. The water depth at the fields is 360 – 405 m.


The contract is a continuation of the concept design work completed in June 2014. It includes integrated engineering services necessary for the conceptual design and pre-FEED design of the infield flowline systems and riser system, and shall be completed within June 2015.


In the extended concept phase KONGSBERG will perform design optimisations, value engineering on alternative technical solutions and in general mature the design further taking in approved solutions from design optimisations and value engineering. In addition to completing all the deliveries from the pre-FEED phase, KONGSBERG will have the role as leading interface contractor for the project interfaces.
