In May 2016, Konecranes (KNCRF) received an order from the Siemens (SIEMENS.NS) Wind Power & Renewables Division in Germany. The order includes 18 Industrial cranes and 1 gantry crane. The cranes will be delivered during summer 2017. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.
The lifting capacity of the ordered cranes is ranging from 20 to 500 tons. The equipment will be used for assembly work in the new factory in Cuxhaven, Germany. Industrial cranes are being used in different levels in the factory and they have anti-collision protection to make the usage of cranes safer.
Siemens is investing around $223 million to build its first production facility for offshore wind turbine components in Germany. The factory is to manufacture nacelles for the company’s next-generation offshore wind turbines and will create up to 1,000 new jobs. Production of the first components will begin in mid-2017.
