Keppel Infrastructure Fund Management Pte Ltd (KIFM), as Trustee-Manager of Keppel Infrastructure Trust (KIT), has completed the capacity upgrade of Senoko Waste-to-Energy plant on 1 September 2016. The upgrade was completed earlier than planned and on budget.
Senoko Waste-to-Energy Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KIT, announced the upgrade in September 2014 after it entered into an agreement with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to progressively increase the capacity from 2,100 tonnes per day to 2,310 tonnes per day. The capacity payments from NEA was correspondingly increased with the completion of each incineration unit upgrade, with the sixth and final unit upgrade being completed with effect from 1 September 2016.
Mr Khor Un-Hun, Chief Executive Officer of KIFM, said, "Working closely with our Operations & Maintenance vendor, Keppel Seghers, we are delighted to deliver the additional capacity ahead of schedule to NEA."
The upgrading works was carried out progressively and scheduled with the planned annual maintenance of each incineration unit so as to optimise the overall operational availability of the plant during the upgrading period.
