BP to Get Permission to Set Up Fuel Stations in India
India has decided to permit European oil major BP Plc to set up 3,500 fuel stations in the country, an oil ministry spokesman told Reuters on Thursday.
The ministry will shortly issue a letter to BP's Indian unit, confirming the licence, the spokesman said.
BP said in a statement to Reuters it had sought the Indian government's approval to sell petrol and diesel in the country.
The company earlier on Thursday said it had received a licence to sell jet fuel in India.
