Gazpromexport to Scrap $5 mln Fine for DEPA

Posted by March 1, 2016

Russia's Gazpromexport has agreed to scrap a $5 million fine Greece's natural gas distributor DEPA had to pay for lower gas take-up last year, DEPA said on Tuesday.

"After continuous talks between DEPA and Gazpromexport, the Russian company agreed that the "take or pay clause" that was activated in 2015...was fully scrapped," DEPA said in a statement.

DEPA agreed in January to pay $36 million to Russia's Gazprom for lower gas take-up in 2014 as a result of softer-than-expected demand in Greece. (Reporting by Angeliki Koutantou
