Gasum to Set up Floating Gas Station Network
In line with the Nordic gas ecosystem, Gasum will be setting up heavy duty gas stations. The aim is to establish a tank infrastructure that meets the heavy transport segment's needs for rational logistics and accessibility.
These establishments have been awarded an investment contribution from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in the Climate Climate Program. In all 16 service stations will be set up in the country at a total cost of SEK 92.6 million.
By replacing diesel with liquid biogas (LBG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the heavy vehicle segment, it is possible to significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), particulate matter and noise emissions. In the future, gas will play an important role in the transition to a fossil-free society. In the coming years, Gasum aims to establish a floating gas station network in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The stations will be located in strategically important places along the major traffic routes, thus linking the Nordic market.
The investment aid granted by Gasum enables the company to enter a more detailed phase to complete the detailed plan for the individual establishments. The regions for which Gasum has been granted support is Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Värmland, Västernorrland, Gävleborg, Örebro, Västmanland, Uppsala, Västra Götaland, Östergötland, Jönköping, Kronoberg and Skåne counties.
