Flynn Refrigeration to Supply EDC Jackup Rigs
Liverpool City Region (UK) maritime firm Flynn Refrigeration has struck a deal to supply refrigeration and air conditioning products to jackup rigs operated the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC).
The Birkenhead firm is an official supplier to some of the air conditioning and refrigeration industry's biggest manufacturers including Bitzer, Bock, Grasso, Gram, Copeland and Danfoss.
The deal has already generated work supplying two EDC jack-up rigs including the new-build Setty, currently located in Gabon West Africa, and the Al-Qaher I based in the Red Sea, Egypt.
Flynn Refrigeration, led by Alex and Carolyn Flynn, delivers the complete refrigeration and air-conditioning package along with air compressors for industrial, energy and marine sectors – including supply, installation and maintenance services.
Carolyn Flynn said vendor agreement will catapult the firm into new markets across North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, as it continues ramping up exports which account for nearly two thirds of total sales.
“We were introduced to EDC through one of our long-standing maritime clients,” she said. “EDC has now included us on its vendor list which has already led to our first contracts supplying refrigeration spare parts and fan motors to jackup rigs.
“Since setting up in 2006 we have supplied many of the world’s leading shipping companies. This has involved the supply of complete compressors down to gaskets and spare parts to more than 100 vessels and rigs around the globe.”
Carolyn said the development with EDC, which has operations in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Gabon, demonstrates the firm’s strong ambition and commitment to developing the brand overseas. She said the £2.6million turnover business has recently strengthened its range of air-conditioning units with new robust designs capable of withstanding the harshest marine environments.
“We have expanded our product portfolio with a new range of bespoke marine evaporators, condensers and air-conditioning systems,” said Mrs Flynn. “These are ideal for many applications in coastal developments and vessels of every size. Critically, they can operate in extreme temperatures and harsh dusty environments frequently experienced in the Middle East.
“The depth and versatility of our product range is a key selling point for many clients. We have thousands of new and reconditioned components such as refrigeration compressors, spares, packages air conditioning and refrigeration controls.
“Our clients also value the level of industry knowledge and customer care we provide. The Flynn team benefits from more than 30 years’ experience and a broad product range."
