Fire extinguished on Magellan E&P Platform

Posted by March 8, 2018

A fire on Wednesday on a platform owned by Magellan E&P Holdings Inc, located about three miles offshore of Corpus Christi, Texas, has been extinguished, the United States Coast Guard said in a statement late on Wednesday.

The platform is expected to resume normal operations later Thursday or Friday, said Magellan E&P's president, Raymond LaGarde. The platform produces natural gas, LaGarde said, and the fire was on the platform's heater treater.

No one was on the platform at the time of the fire and a response boat crew reported that the fire was put out by 6:30 p.m., the Coast Guard said.
