Settlement Reached in Petrobras' Texas Refinery Emissions Case

A U.S. unit of Brazilian state-run company Petrobras agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle a lawsuit over alleged toxic emissions from its Pasadena, Texas, oil refinery, two environmental groups said.The settlement comes in the midst of the company's efforts to sell the refinery. Proserv Secures $5.5 Mln Repsol Contract

Energy services company Proserv has secured a contract worth over $5.5 million (45 million Norwegian Kroner) with Repsol to upgrade and build new subsea production control equipment for the Yme field redevelopment in the Norwegian North Sea. The award scope initially covers the refurbishment and upgrade of the existing subsea control system. Using Proserv’s unique technology and expertise, the life of the existing equipment will be extended significantly beyond its original design life, with no compromise on functionality.

Offshore Technical Compliance (OTC), provider of compliance related services, has acquired Northwest Technical Solutions (NWTS) as a wholly-owned subsidiary, extending the efficiency and reach of its offshore services. The acquisition of NWTS, which will be renamed as OTC Solutions, adds third party verification of compliance for well control equipment by a registered professional engineering firm to OTC’s portfolio, enabling its customers to access the full spectrum of compliance related services under the OTC brand. Obama to Issue New Offshore Drilling Rules

The Obama administration will announce Thursday safety regulations for offshore oil and natural gas drilling to prevent the kind of explosion that happened six years ago on a BP rig in the Gulf of Mexico, an official told Reuters. The Department of Interior will unveil the final version of its well control regulations, which will require more stringent design and operating procedures for well control equipment used in offshore oil and gas operations, said the official, who is close to the rulemaking process.

Proserv Seals Equipment Contract with Statoil

Energy services company Proserv has been awarded a multi-million pound contract with Statoil for the provision of production control equipment in Norway. Proserv will supply five wellhead hydraulic power units (HPUs) for Statoil’s Gullfaks oil and gas field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea which is undergoing an extensive topside upgrade program. The design, manufacture and supply of the workscope will be carried out by Proserv’s specialist engineering and project teams in Stavanger, Norway.

The new service from Lloyd’s Register Energy has been developed in light of significant market challenges in the upstream oil and gas market, low oil prices and client mandates to achieve leaner operations. The equipment survey service includes a newly refined set of inspection tools focused on safety critical equipment used in drilling operations. It covers an assessment of both capital and safety critical drilling equipment, mud systems, BOP and well control equipment, electrical equipment and systems, power plant, safety equipment and the maintenance and spare parts system.

Proserv Secures Johan Sverdrup Contract

Proserv informs it has secured a contract with a value of more than 20 million NOK to provide topside control equipment at one of the largest field discoveries on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The agreement will see Proserv supplying Aibel, on behalf of Statoil, with a hydraulic power unit (HPU) and three chemical injection panels to be used on the prestigious Johan Sverdrup development’s drilling platform. To deliver the products, Proserv will make the most of its international network with staff at Proserv’s base in Norway working in collaboration with their Dubai colleagues.

Energy sector service group Glacier Energy Services has acquired MSL Heat Transfer, the Aberdeen-based radiator and cooler design, manufacture, repair and refurbishment provider, marking completion of Glacier’s sixth acquisition as it carries out a reorganization into four divisions to augment its service offering to its customers across the international energy sector. Glacier said it acquired MSL Heat Transfer to boost its heat transfer service division, complementing Ross Offshore, the specialist in heat exchanger repair and refurbishment services acquired by Glacier in 2013.

Foster Wheeler For Air Quality Control System Upgrade In West Virginia

Foster Wheeler AG announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Power Group’s Environmental and Industrial division has been awarded a contract by Longview Power, LLC to rehabilitate and optimize the wet flue gas desulfurization system at their existing 700 MWe (net megawatt electric) Longview Power facility in Maidsville, West Virginia, USA. Foster Wheeler has received a full notice to proceed on this contract. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the contract value will be included in the company’s third-quarter 2014 bookings.
