Industry Entrepreneur Acquires Oil Plus

An energy industry entrepreneur has snapped up Oil Plus Ltd, a specialist oil and gas consultancy based in Berkshire, south England. Mark Cavanagh, managing director of Crandale Consultants, acquired the business from John Crane Inc, a division of Smiths Group plc, for an undisclosed value. Oil Plus plans on adding to its workforce over the next 12 months as it targets double-digit growth and forecasts turnover of £3 million. Cavanagh has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily in project management and the population of asset management systems.
DuPont Settles Teflon Chemical Lawsuit
DuPont and Chemours Co said on Monday they had agreed to pay about $671 million in cash to settle several lawsuits related to the leak of a toxic chemical, used to make Teflon, that has been linked to cancer and other diseases. The company said it settled about 3,550 personal injury claims arising from the leak of perfluorooctanoic acid, also known as PFOA or C-8, from DuPont's plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The leak allegedly contaminated local water supplies and has been linked to six diseases, including testicular and kidney cancers. DuPont said in a statement that it had stopped using C-8 in operations at the West Virginia plant more than a decade ago.
MHPS to Boost AQCS Business
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) have agreed to transfer operations in the domestic after-sale servicing of desulfurization equipment, currently performed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Environmental & Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (MHIEC), and operations in water treatment systems, now handled by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mechatronics Systems, Ltd. (MHI-MS), to Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Environmental Solutions, Ltd. (MHPS-ES), an MHPS Group company, effective April 1. In preparation for the business transfers, MHPS-ES has concluded basic spin-off agreements with MHIEC and MHI-MS.
ClassNK Completes Work on KOTC Vessel
ClassNK announced that it has completed work on the 31,445GT Product Tanker MUTRIBA, built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. (HMD) as part of a series of vessels being constructed for the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company S.A.K. (KOTC). The MUTRIBA was officially delivered to KOTC at a ceremony held in Kuwait on 20 October 2014. The MUTRIBA is the fourth and final Product Tanker to be constructed by HMD as part of this series under ClassNK Rules and Regulations and in line with KOTC’s strict standards on safety and environmental performance.
