Exxon to produce 180,000 barrels per day of oil in seventh Guyana project

According to a document released by the Guyana's Environmental Agency on Monday, a consortium led by Exxon Mobil, based in the United States, plans to produce as much as 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 95 million cubic foot per day of gas from its seventh project, Hammerhead. Exxon, which includes U.S. Hess, and China CNOOC, has been waiting for approval from the government for this project since last January. The company also requested approval last week for its eighth project.

Sweden builds 100,000-year storage site for spent nuclear material
Sweden began building a final nuclear fuel storage facility on Wednesday. It is only the second site of its kind in the world where highly radioactive wastes will be stored for 100 years. Since the commercialization of nuclear reactors in the 1950s, the question of how to safely store radioactive waste has plagued the industry. Finland is the only nation that has a permanent site in its final stages of construction. World Nuclear Association estimates that there are approximately 300,000 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel in the world.

Donald Trump, the President-elect, announced on Saturday that Chris Wright, an oil and gas executive who is a staunch supporter of fossil fuels, will be his choice to lead the Department of Energy. Wright is the founder of Liberty Energy in Denver, a firm that provides oilfield services. He will likely support Trump's plans to increase oil and gas production and seek ways to increase electricity generation, which is on the rise for the first decade. MOL Poducing Hand Sanitizer to Help Fight COVID-19

Hungarian oil and gas company MOL said it has transformed one of its production facilities at Almásfüzitő into a sanitizer production plant as energy companies around the world pitch in to aid the fight against coronavirus. Lubricants producer and MOL Group member MOL Lub Ltd. shifted production of a windshield washer production line in just one week to help combat a shortage of hand and surface sanitizers in Hungary brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.MOL said the unit is operating 24/7, in three shifts, producing a daily volume of around 50,000 liters.

BP Shipping took delivery of British Partner, the first of a half dozen new 173,400 cu. m. capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be delivered through 2018 and 2019 from the DSME shipyard in South Korea. Powering Ships with Plastic in Amsterdam
In the Port of Amsterdam, a new factory is being built that could revolutionize the way we dispose of plastic waste. Utilizing groundbreaking technology, the facility will use previously unrecyclable plastic to create fuel for diesel powered cargo ships. Saudi Cabinet Approves Nuclear Power Program National Policy
Saudi Arabia's cabinet approved on Tuesday the national policy of the atomic energy program, state news agency SPA reported. The national policy includes limiting all nuclear activities to peaceful purposes, within the limits defined by international treaties, SPA said. It also stressed on the importance of optimal utilization of natural resources from nuclear materials and applying best practices for radioactive waste management. Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, wants nuclear power to diversify its energy supply mix.
DCC to buy ExxonMobil's Norwegian Petrol Stations
London-listed DCC Plc said it would buy the retail petrol station network of ExxonMobil's Norwegian unit, Esso Norge AS, for 2.43 billion Norwegian crowns ($293.38 million). DCC, whose activities range from oil distribution to waste management, said the total consideration, along with the value of stock in tank at the date of acquisition, would be paid in cash. Dublin-based DCC, which gets nearly half of its profit from Britain and Ireland, has been expanding into western Europe in recent years through acquisitions.
