MISC Berhad Names New LNG Carrier Seri Cenderawasih

MISC Berhad today held the naming and delivery ceremony for its new LNG carrier, Seri Cenderawasih. The 150,200 CBM liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier is the second in a series of five MOSS-Type LNG carriers ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI”) by MISC. Coal Surges Past $50 as Crude Prices Sag

Both coal and oil rallied from over 10-year lows in early 2016, but coal, oil have diverged since June. Coal prices in 2016 have regained their footing above the psychological threshold of $50, leaving the oil industry wondering when crude prices will return to form. Both thermal coal and crude oil prices plunged to more than 10-year lows earlier this year as both industries grappled with oversupply and slowing demand, but prices recovered as production outages tightened the market. However, the two have diverged sharply since June.

Statoil Awards Johan Sverdrup Pipeline Contracts

The total contract value is estimated at slightly less than NOK 2.5 billion, the three contracts cover both the oil and the gas export pipelines for Johan Sverdrup. The linepipe fabrication contract for the export pipelines was awarded to Mitsui & Co. Norway A.S. Mitsui will deliver 220 000 tonnes of steel for the oil and gas pipelines, totalling 430 kilometres. Linepipe production will start at Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal (NSSMC) steelworks in Japan early in 2016.

Hoover Spotlights Certified Mud Skip/Cutting Box Container

Hoover Container Solutions (Hoover), a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., says it has added a new DOT / DNV certified Mud Skip / Cutting Box to its offshore product line for transportation and safe handling of hydrocarbon contaminated drill cuttings to and from offshore platforms. The mud skips / cutting boxes have patented sliding doors and a removable crank handle, and the units provide a safe and efficient means for containment of drilling waste for transportation to treatment or disposal sites.
