LOC to Provide MWS Services for Ørsted Taiwan Offshore Wind Farms

Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted has contracted LOC for the provision of Marine Warranty Survey services (MWS) for the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms in Taiwan.Under the agreement, LOC will provide MWS services for the transportation & installation of the export and array cables. LOC to Provide MWS for Chinese Offshore Wind Farm Project

LOC has won a contract to provide Marine Warranty Services (MWS) to support transport and installation operations for the development of the Jieyang II windfarm. The Jieyang II windfarm will consists of 64 wind turbines, with an installed capacity of 350MW, and a 220kV offshore booster station. The turbines will be connected to the booster station through 16 circuits of 35kV submarine cable.The LOC contract is with China Pacific Insurance Co (CPIC), which is headquartered in Shanghai and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.LOC China will provide document review and verification of all critical marine operations and procedures…

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Dorothy Shepherd as general manager, renewables. Shepherd joins Bibby Offshore with more than 15 years’ experience in the energy industry. Having spent a significant time at The Crown Estate - a key player in supporting the delivery of energy supply for the U.K. - Shepherd brings with her a wealth of offshore renewables knowledge, including the delivery of new developments and supporting infrastructure. In her new role, Shepherd will be instrumental in the delivery of new business in the renewables sector.

ECO Affiliates Ink 5-Year Deal with Shell for IMR Vessel

Two affiliates of Louisiana-based Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) have signed a five-year contract with Shell Brazil for light subsea construction, and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services from the M/V Island Enforcer, a 402-ft. subsea installation and construction vessel. According to ECO, the agreement includes a varied list of projects featuring vessel services from ECO affiliate Bram Offshore, and ROV and survey services from C-Innovation. The all-inclusive contract also includes installation, commissioning, inspection, subsea intervention, surveys, testing, bunkering support and material transport.

M² Subsea, Frontera Join Forces in the GoM

M² Subsea has joined forces with Frontera Offshore to deliver remedial pipeline work for Permaducto, a subsidiary of Grupo Protexa, in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) oilfield in the Bay of Campeche, 65 miles north east of Cuidad del Carmen, Mexico. This contract also marks the first award for M² Subsea in the Gulf of Mexico region. The project will see personnel from M² Subsea’s Houston base on-board Frontera Offshore’s chartered multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) Tehuana, to facilitate pre and post lay surveys for Frontera Offshore.

Fugro Enables Safer Drilling for BP in Strong Currents

Fugro has provided a spectrum of services to BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC (bpTT) to allow safe drilling and completion of five subsea wells in an area of strong currents. The services include wellhead motion (fatigue) monitoring, metocean measurements and positioning services. The positioning activities were carried out onboard the drilling vessel as well as on the three supporting anchor handling tugs (one tug had subsea acoustic ROV positioning). SensorView Reduces Non-productive Rig Time at Ichthys

Software that enables acoustic data to be streamed in real-time from subsea structures as they are installed has helped to reduce non-production time (NPT) for independent oil and gas producer, INPEX, and its survey contractor, Neptune Geomatics, during construction of the Ichthys gas field, offshore Western Australia. Supplied by subsea technology company Sonardyne Asia Pte. Ltd in Singapore, the SensorView software allowed data gathered by an acoustic transponder mounted on Tubing Head Spools (THS), to be transmitted at high speed to rig personnel monitoring the installation operations.

Harkand North America Salvaged by MBO

A team led by AJ Jain, Harkand North America Managing Director, has agreed to a management buyout (MBO) of Harkand’s North American and African business. The new company, to be named ETHOS OFFSHORE LIMITED, will continue to provide subsea engineering and construction services to Harkand’s existing US, Mexican and West African client base to market-leading standards. The new company, backed by investment funds advised and managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (“Oaktree”), is expected to have a contracted backlog of $145 million worth of projects. The move also could potentially safeguard more than 100 jobs across North America, Africa and Mexico.

N-Sea to Clear Unexploded Ordnance for UK Wind Farm

Subsea IMR provider, N-Sea, has been awarded a new contract with Galloper Offshore Wind Farm Ltd (GWFL). The contract for pre-construction unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance works commenced in April 2016 and includes UXO risk management, target investigations and clearance on the Galloper Wind Farm, off the coast of Suffolk. Expected to run for between 3-6 months, the project sees the Siem N-Sea multi-support vessel utilize a WROV to investigate potential UXO targets within the array areas and export cable corridor. N-Sea’s dive support vessel, Neptunus, will also undertake similar tasks in shallow water areas.

N-Sea Celebrates Safety Innovation Award

Subsea IMR provider, N-Sea, has won the Safety Innovations award at this year’s SPE Aberdeen Offshore Achievement Awards. Winners were announced at an awards ceremony last night at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). The Safety Innovations Award recognizes excellence in innovative technology and products that have been developed in the UK and which contribute to offshore safety. N-Sea has received the accolade by demonstrating an on-going commitment to safety by upgrading its already-revolutionary TUP Diving System (TUP).

Harkand Signs Joint Venture in Angola

Harkand has signed a new joint venture agreement with ESOPEG Lda in Angola, its first strategic partnership in the country and third in the region as the global inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) company continues to strengthen its capabilities across West Africa. The newly formed company Harkand Angola Lda, based in Luanda, will focus on the development of local IRM capabilities and services in country, providing support and local content on both large major capital development projects and maintenance to existing ageing operations.

Three-year Angolan Award for Harkand

Harkland and its local consortium partner TOS Angola Lda has secured a three-year contract to deliver inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services in Angola for a major international oil company operating in the West Africa region. The recently upgraded multi-purpose dive support vessel (DSV) Swordfish has been mobilised to support the project and provide air, surface gas and saturation diving services for the work in Cabinda, Angola. Following the recent $10.5million upgrade to the diving systems, the DSV Swordfish is fully compliant to the highest standards of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) including a 15-man diving system…

2G Robotics Delivers to Oceaneering

2G Robotics delivered two deep-rated ULS-500 subsea laser systems to Oceaneering International, Inc.'s business unit, Oceaneering Survey Services (C&C Technologies), a provider of deepwater seafloor mapping services, subsea surveys and satellite positioning. Including these two ULS-500 systems, Oceaneering now uses six of the ULS-500 systems with its AUVs as part of its advanced survey and inspection services for assessing pipeline and flowline integrity. Oceaneering has been using the ULS-500 since 2013 to perform dynamic flowline and pipeline inspections with its AUVs.

FUGRO Wins Blue Stream Pipeline Inspection Contract

Fugro has been awarded a contract by Blue Stream Pipeline Company B.V. for the provision of survey support vessels and associated survey services to perform the 2015 external pipeline inspection for the offshore, shore approach, and dry section components of the Blue Stream Pipeline System. The two 24” gas export pipelines, E1 and W2, run from the Beregovaya gas compression station in Russia’s Arkhipo-Osipovka, 235 miles (378km) across the Black Sea, with a maximum water depth of approximately 2,150m, to the Durusu inlet terminal 40 miles (64km) from Samsun  in Turkey.

Proserv Group LLC, an energy services company, has acquired Nautronix, a supplier of subsea digital acoustic communication products and positioning services to the oil and gas industry, based in Aberdeen. Proserv is a portfolio company of Riverstone Holdings LLC, an energy-focused private equity firm based in New York. Employing 120 people, Nautronix is headquartered in Aberdeen where the main research and development, and manufacturing facilities are located. Harkand Mobilizes Vessel for Premier Oil in UKCS

Harkand has embarked on  a contract awarded by Premier Oil Plc to support the operator activities on the Solan field development, West of Shetland. The multi-purpose service vessel the Siem Spearfish, which is on long-term charter to Harkand,  arrived in Newcastle earlier this month to begin mobilization for the campaign which will see it perform  walk-to-work duties for the ongoing commissioning work on site. The Spearfish is being fitted with an Ampelmann active motion compensated gangway which will allow personnel to walk onto the Solan platform safely, even in high wave conditions.

N-Sea Announces Expansion to Norwich

Subsea IMR provider, N-Sea Offshore Ltd has moved into new, Norwich-based premises as business continues to grow. An integral part of its growth strategy, the premises signify further expansion for N-Sea and will support the company’s increased activity in the oil and gas and renewable market in the Southern North Sea area. Offshore renewable activity currently accounts for almost 30 percent of N-Sea’s business, through its bases in Aberdeen and Zierikzee, The Netherlands. The new office facility at Dragonfly House, Norwich will serve to maintain and grow this market, supported by the appointment of business development manager, Gary Thirkettle.
