Energean Seeks to Pipe Karish Gas to Cyprus

Gastrade Signs LNG Deal with State-owned DEPA

Greece's state controlled natural gas firm DEPA signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday with natural gas company Gastrade to participate in the development of a liquified natural gas terminal in northern Greece, DEPA said. Greece currently has one LNG terminal on an islet off Athens. Gastrade, part of Greek energy group Copelouzos, is planning a second LNG terminal near the northern city of Alexandroupolis. The project has been described as a 'project of common interest' by the European Union.

GE Wins First Major Deal from Alstom Portfolio, in Romania

General Electric has won a large contract to supply gas power equipment for a new 430 megawatt Romanian power plant, the first major deal to result from its $10.6 billion 2015 acquisition of Alstom's power business. GE will supply all the core technology for the 268 million- euro ($299 million) combined-cycle plant being built in Iernut by Duro Felguera and Romelectro for state gas producer Romgaz. Before the Alstom acquisition, GE would have simply supplied the gas turbines and walked away.

Qatar LNG Not Affected by Arab States Tension -Exxon

Exxon Mobil Corp said on Tuesday that production and exports of liquefied natural gas from Qatar have not been affected by rising diplomatic tensions in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt on Monday cut ties with Qatar, accusing the country of supporting extremism. Qatar denies the allegations. The growing diplomatic rift has raised concerns about global access to Qatar's LNG, especially after some regional ports in the Persian Gulf said they would not accept Qatari-flagged vessels.

First FLNG Production Facility Completes Testing

Tokyo Gas buys Eagle Ford Shale Stake

Tokyo Gas Co said on Tuesday it has bought a 25 percent stake in an Eagle Ford shale gas formation, in what could be among the first shale investments in the United States by a Japanese firm since the tumble in energy prices. Japan's biggest city gas supplier said it purchased the stake from VirTex Producing Co. The company did not give a break-down of the value of the stake but said it expects to spend up to 8 billion yen ($76.64 million) for the stake plus investments in subsequent drilling combined.

Shell: Force Majeure on Nigerian LNG

Shell Petroleum Development Company has declared force majeure (FM) on gas supplies to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility on Bonny Island, a spokeswoman said. "The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) declared force majeure on gas supply to NLNG on 8 August 2016, following a leak on the Eastern Gas Gathering System (EGGS-1) pipeline through which it supplies the bulk of its gas to NLNG," a spokesman said in an emailed statement.
