Russia expects the new Sakhalin-3 project to begin operations in 2028

Russian news agencies reported on Thursday that the country is expecting to begin natural gas production in 2028 at the new Sakhalin-3 Project in the Pacific Ocean to supply gas to China as well as for domestic use. Valery Limarenko said that Gazprom, the Russian energy giant, and regional authorities were working together on a plan for a refinery to be built in southern Sakhalin, to produce jet-fuel, diesel, and naphtha using gas condensate.

Shell MDS ordered to pay Petronas for gas overdue payments by Malaysian court

Local media reported that the Malaysian Court of Appeal overturned an injunction by the High Court that allowed Shell MDS Malaysia to stop its monthly payments of gas to national energy company Petronas as of August 2024. According to The Edge, the three-judge panel unanimously ruled that Petronas had not breached its agreement, since it continued to supply gas to Shell MDS during the dispute. Shell MDS received competing invoices for 80 million ringgit from Petronas as well as Petros, an aggregator of gas owned by Sarawak.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's (ADNOC) $18.7billion bid for Australian liquefied gas producer Santos faces a much higher hurdle than the money offered. The politics surrounding the deal, which would represent Australia's biggest-ever cash takeover in history, are becoming increasingly difficult to overcome. ADNOC, Australia's second largest oil and gas company launched its bid in June, and a preliminary due diligence was to be completed no later than August.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Friday that Power of Siberia 2 was a "mutually-beneficial project". Operator says Ukraine gas interconnector is still operational after Russian attack

The Ukrainian gas transmission operator reported that the interconnector Orlovka in southern Ukraine, which was attacked on Wednesday by Russian drones, continued to supply gas on Thursday. Separatist authorities announced on Friday that the pro-Russian Transdniestria region of Moldova, which is a breakaway region, has begun receiving gas under a Moscow loan.
