Virgina Offshore Wind Project Moves Forward

An offshore wind project in the U.S. mid-Atlantic is moving forward, as project owner Dominion Energy Virginia has signed an agreement and strategic partnership with DONG Energy to build two 6-megawatt turbines 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. BP Appoints Heads of production, Drilling

BP has reshuffled its exploration and production division as the oil company readies for the biggest jump in output in its history. The British firm is launching a record number of projects this year and plans steep growth in production through 2021. The chief of the production, exploration and development unit or upstream division, Bernard Looney, has appointed several executives including a new head of production and a new head of drilling, BP told Reuters.

Hundreds of Rail Tank Cars Now Idle

Amid the rolling mountains surrounding this quiet town in southwest New York state, tucked away on miles-long stretches of underused rail tracks, hundreds of idle oil tank cars attest to the extent of fallout from oil's rout. The oil tank cars - a year ago sought-after to haul crude from North Dakota to New Jersey - now stand idle as a result of two converging trends: the reversal in U.S. shale oil production and the completion of new pipelines. They show how the pain from the slump in the oil-by-rail industry has spread far and wide.

Schlumberger Betting on Slight Recovery in N.America Demand

Schlumberger NV is betting on an uptick in demand for oilfield services in North America, a market that has been battered by a steep drop in oil prices. The world's No.1 oilfield services company would carry "slightly more" costs in the current quarter to "be ready for growth in activity", CEO Paal Kibsgaard said on a post-earnings call on Friday. "We believe we are getting close to bottom," he said, but warned he couldn't be a "100 percent certain" of higher activity in the fourth quarter, or even the first quarter of 2016.

Noble Strikes Second Private Equity Deal

Global commodity trader Noble Group Ltd has joined forces with a private equity group to set up an energy investment fund run by a former Royal Dutch Shell executive, its second such arrangement in a year. Noble and EIG Global Energy Partners are creating Harbour Energy, the latest deal to combine commodity merchants' trading savvy with the financial power of private equity.
