Offshore Wind Cable Market to Grow 57% by 2023

The value of the global market for subsea power cables needed to build offshore wind farms will grow by 57% from GBP 717 million this year to over GBP 1.13 billion by 2023, according to a new report by RenewableUK.The study – 'Offshore Wind Cables Installation and Manufacturing Forecast 2019-2029' – also shows that subsea wires covering over 16,300km in length will be needed over the next five years to build new projects worldwide.According to RenewableUK’s Project Intelligence team which compiled the report…

Pemex Delves Deep into UK Subsea Sector

Senior figures from Mexico’s national oil company, Pemex, have been discovering the secrets of the UK subsea sector’s success and how it has revolutionized the way in which hydrocarbons have been extracted from beneath the seabed during a fact-finding visit to Aberdeen. Organized in partnership with the Department of International Trade (DIT), the five-day subsea learning event included site visits to some of the sector’s most innovative companies, including GE Oil & Gas, Aker Solutions, Hydrasun, Wood Group, BP and ROVOP.

UK Subsea Sector Set to Increase Exports in 2017

British subsea companies are expecting to increase overseas activity in the next 12 months, according to a survey conducted by industry body, Subsea UK. Of the 300 member companies surveyed, 27% are predicting increasing exports by 50% or more in 2017. More than half (56%) expect overseas sales to increase between 1% and 49% with only 17% not expecting any increase in export revenues. A third of companies surveyed do not yet know what effect Brexit will have on their export plans…

Enpro Subsea Drives $1.8mln into Flow Assurance Project

Enpro Subsea has announced a research and development grant from Scottish Enterprise which will see the firm investing £1.5million ($1.85mln) to develop its flow assurance technology further to address emerging markets in deeper waters. The news came as Scottish Enterprise revealed a new Subsea Engineering Action Plan with the aim of capturing an even bigger slice of the current £50 billion ($61.5bln) global subsea market.

O&G Seeks Clarity on New Skills Tax

Proserv Delivers Opening Phase of Record Contract

Proserv has completed the first phase of one of its largest contracts yet to provide subsea control systems for deepwater projects in Brazil. The firm has delivered the initial three of nine control systems that will support drill pipe riser (DPR) intervention services at depths of 2,500 metres. The work forms part of a $40 million deal with a leading oilfield service company. The remaining six systems are expected to be delivered by the turn of the year in line with key project milestones.

DOF Subsea Secures Contract Extension

DOF Subsea UK Limited  has announced that its survey and positioning business in the U.K. and U.S. has been awarded an extension of a Master Service Agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors of Leiden, The Netherlands.   The contract covers global provision of survey and positioning services on board Heerema Marine Contractor’s vessels, including the Hermod, Balder, Thialf, Aegir and support vessels/anchor handlers.
