Dredging International Contract Goes to Sif

Netherlands-based Sif Holding N.V. announced that Dredging International has awarded to Sif the production of 58 monopiles and the primary steel of the transition pieces for SeaMade offshore wind farm.The manufactures steel foundations to the offshore wind and oil and gas said in a release that the contract has been awarded by EPCI-contractor Dredging International, a DEME Group's subsidiary. The transition pieces will be manufactured in joint venture with Smulders in Hoboken.SeaMade offshore wind farm is located approximately 40 to 50 km off the coast of Ostend (Belgium) in 22- 38 m water depth.

Monopiles Terminal to Be Built in Rotterdam

Sif Group, Verbrugge International and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed an agreement in principle for the construction of a production and storage/handling terminal in Rotterdam. Sif Group and Verbrugge are planning to set up a joint venture to bring the storage and logistics of the foundations, so-called monopiles, under one roof. At the terminal, which covers around 42 hectares, Sif Group will produce steel foundations for offshore wind farms and the oil and gas industry. It is the market leader in the production of monopiles for the offshore wind market in the North Sea.

Bilfinger Rethinks Offshore Wind after Profit Warning

German building and services group Bilfinger said it would have to rethink options for its offshore wind power business, where a writedown contributed to a profit warning. Bilfinger said late on Wednesday it had written off its 30 million-euro ($39 million) share in a Polish factory for making steel foundations for offshore wind turbines, after the start of production was delayed from this year until 2015 or 2016. "We have to review our options," Chief Executive Herbert Bodner told analysts on a conference call. "It's actually not a business that really belongs organically in the power segment.

Big Abandonment & Recovery Missions Offshore for AF

AF Group's wholly owned subsidiary, AF Decom Offshore UK Limited, has in a consortium with Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland SE (Heerema AF Consortium), entered into an agreement with CNR, Canadian Natural Resources International (UK) Limited for decommissioning of the Murchison platform in the UK North Sea. MoU includes a major contract for engineering, preparatory, removal and recycling (EPRD) of both tires and steel foundations, in all, a combined weight of more than 37,000 tons.
