Pipeline technology company STATS (UK) Ltd increased profits by 65 percent to £4.3 million ($6 million) while maintaining revenues of £30 million, ($41 million) according to its latest annual accounts lodged at Companies House.The accounts to December 31, 2017, show that despite the continued impact of low oil and gas prices, demand for the group’s isolation and intervention services remained solid with an upturn in project awards from new clients in the UK and internationally.The rise in profit (trading…

Subsea Pipeline Repair Restores Hong Kong Gas Link

Pipeline technology specialist STATS Group has completed its first subsea isolation project in China on a 780-kilometer pipeline crucial for supplying gas to Hong Kong. STATS Group was contracted by COOEC Subsea Technology to provide a temporary isolation of the Yacheng pipeline in the South China Sea. The pipeline had been damaged by a ship’s anchor and left unpiggable at a location about 280 kilometers from shore and in water depths of 90 meters. Murchison Decommissioned after 30 Years of Operation

STATS Group in collaboration with Paradigm Flow Services and Halliburton safely and successfully isolated, de-oiled, plugged and abandoned two 3.5” subsea flowlines as part of the Murchison decommissioning project. After nearly 30 years of operation in the Northern North Sea, the CNR International operated Murchison field had reached the end of its production life. Prior to the removal of the topsides jacket, it became evident that two subsea flowlines were still connected to the platform. These lines were known to still contain hydrocarbons and required to be de-oiled and cut to enable the heavy lift scope.

Flangeless Subsea Launcher Debuted at Subsea Expo

Pipeline technology company, STATS Group, have developed a Flangeless Subsea Launcher (FSL) which the manufacturer says offers greater flexibility and can be positioned at any given position in depths of up to 2,220 meters. Currently, temporary subsea launchers are designed for flanged pipe connection to allow maintenance pigs and isolation plugs to be deployed and recovered for pipeline maintenance or repair operations, however, flanged connections limit the location of where a subsea launcher can be attached.

Enbridge Commissions STATS to Repair Export Pipeline

A major North American pipeline operator commissioned pipeline technology specialist STATS Group to execute the isolation of one of its key export pipelines. Enbridge Pipelines Inc, (Enbridge) required the double block and bleed isolation on a 48” crude oil pipeline as part of a scheduled line shutdown to facilitate the repair of a receiver valve. In what is believed to be the first onshore piggable solution of its type completed in Canada, the project also required to be done without the need to use or leave traditional hot tap tees on the pipeline system.

Pipeline engineering specialist, STATS Group, has invested $2 million in new facilities in Houston to expand its services in the U.S. and South American oil and gas markets. The UK-based group, which designs, manufactures and installs a range of hi-tech pipeline isolation and intervention tools, has opened a 25,000 sq ft office and workshop facility in Brittmoore and expects to add to its U.S. headcount over the next year. DNV GL Approves Pipeline Isolation Tools

Pipeline engineering specialist STATS Group has received the DNV GL seal of approval for its Tecno Plug and BISEP range of pipeline isolation tools. DNV GL has issued certificate P-15082 for the 3-48” range for both Tecno Plugs and BISEPs. Obtaining type approval from DNV GL ensures clients that STATS Group products are fully compliant to the highest standards and are ‘ready to go’ without the need for further work or adaptation by the end-user. STATS Expands In Canada and Middle East

Oil and gas pipeline engineering specialist STATS Group has invested more than CAD $1.8 million (£1 million) in a double pronged expansion in North America and the Middle East. In Canada, the isolation and integrity testing business has upscaled to an Edmonton facility twice the size of its previous premises and has recently opened a project support office in Calgary. The company has been operating in Western Canada for seven years and the extended Calgary facility includes 15,000 sq ft (1394 sq m) of office, workshops, test bays and tool storage space.

STATS Group has opened a new Intervention Engineering and Technical Support hub and recruited two of the energy industry’s leading experts in pipeline intervention services. The Aberdeenshire-headquartered pipeline engineering specialist has invested in a new facility in Kendal, Cumbria,(U.K.), which will be the focus of its technical and operational support, coupled with research and development work for its hot tap and BISEP* product lines. Business Growth Fund (BGF), the independent company established to help Britain’s growing businesses, today announced it has made a £10m investment in energy-focused firm - 3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry. Founded in 2007 by Graham Hacon, 3sun Group operates in the oil and gas onshore and offshore wind sectors. It is an established supplier of control panels for offshore oil and gas subsea and platform applications, whilst in the offshore wind sector it installs, inspects and maintains wind turbines.
