Saudi Aramco Adding 1.9 mln barrels of crude to Japan Storage

Oil giant Saudi Aramco will on Wednesday add 1.9 million barrels (300,000 kilolitres) of crude to storage that it holds in Japan, a Japanese trade ministry official said on Monday. The move comes as Japan from this month raises the crude storage capacity that it lends for free to the state-run Aramco by 30 percent to 8.2 million barrels, based on a previous agreement between the two nations.

Japan Sells 2 mln bbls Crude From Strategic Reserves

Japan has sold 2.08 million barrels (330,000 kilolitres) of Khafji crude from the government's Strategic Petroleum Reserves amid a shift by the nation's refiners to process more lighter grades, a trade ministry official said. The Khafji grade was stored at Shibushi national oil storage in Kagoshima, southern Japan, and is to be delivered sometime between October and February, the official said on Wednesday. The tender was held last week, he added.

Magnitude 6 Quake Hits South Japan, Nuclear Power Plants Safe

An earthquake of magnitude 6 hit southern Japan on Thursday, bringing down some buildings, a government spokesman said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries and the nuclear regulator reported no problems at power plants. The quake struck 11 km (7 miles) east of the city of Kumamoto, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. It initially said the magnitude was 6.2 but revised it down. Japanese public broadcaster NHK said the quake registered 6.4.

Abu Dhabi Crude to Top Up Japan's SPR

State-run Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp (JOGMEC) bought about 1.26 million barrels (200,000 kilolitres) of Abu Dhabi Das crude from Itochu Corp for the government's Strategic Petroleum Reserves, two industry sources said on Thursday. JOGMEC had been seeking 1.26 million barrels of Middle Eastern light crude, with shipments to be delivered to the Shibushi national oil storage base in Kagoshima…
