Rystad reports that US oil and gas M&A will reach a record in 2023, with the focus shifting away from Permian.

Analysts at Rystad, a consultancy, said that the appetite of U.S. producers for deals is close to last year's level, as a rise in interest in smaller oilfields offsets sluggish activity in the Permian Basin, which produces most oil. According to Rystad's analysis of the U.S. market through August, nearly $100 billion was spent on mergers and purchases (M&As) by U.S. producers. Another $46 billion worth of assets is currently up for sale.

EOG will increase activity in the Utica shale in Ohio, says company

Jeff Leitzell, chief operating officer of Houston-based EOG Resources, told the Barclays CEO Energy-Power Conference attendees in New York that the company expects to increase operations in the Utica Shale play in Ohio. Leitzell stated that EOG Resources had doubled its Utica activity year-on-year. The company now operates on 445,000 acres at an average cost of $600 per acre.

Eisbrenner, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry pioneer and Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors at US based LNG development company NextDecade Corporation, has passed away at the age of 58.Eisbrenner enjoyed a remarkable career, and was widely viewed as one of the foremost female executives in the global LNG industry. Harvey Drenches Louisiana, Sparks Blast at Texas Chemical Plant

The remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey drenched northern Louisiana on Thursday as it moved inland, leaving behind record flooding that paralyzed the U.S. energy hub of Houston, killed at least 35 people and drove tens of thousands from their homes. Two explosions were reported at a flood-hit chemical plant in Crosby, Texas, 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Houston, with one sheriff's deputy sent to the hospital after inhaling toxic chemicals.

Sunoco Logistics Sees no Impact to Texas Terminal Ops

A fire on Friday night that injured seven workers had no significant impact on operations at Sunoco Logistics' giant crude oil terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast, a company spokesman said on Saturday. "This hasn't significantly impacted our operations," said Sunoco Logistics spokesman Jeffrey Shields by telephone. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration opened an investigaton into the accident on Saturday, Shields said.

ExxonMobil to Expand Beaumont Refinery in US

ExxonMobil will add flexibility to process light crudes at its Beaumont refinery, increasing production capacity by approximately 20,000 barrels per day. This expansion will further strengthen ExxonMobil’s integrated downstream portfolio in Southeast Texas. “This project will grow our capacity and flexibility to process light crude oils,” said Jerry Wascom, president of ExxonMobil Refining and Supply Company.
