After EDF Renewables, Enbridge, and wpd on Tuesday announced the sanctioning of the $2,2 billion Fécamp offshore wind project in France, Siemens Gamesa has confirmed it has received the firm order for the supply of wind turbines for the project.The offshore wind turbine maker will deliver 71 SWT-7.0-154 offshore wind turbines each with capacity of 7 MW. Largest Wind Turbines for U.S. Largest Offshore Wind Project

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy's new wind turbines with up to 15MW capacity have been earmarked for an offshore wind project in the U.S.First, the company on Tuesday morning said it was planning to deploy the giant SG 14-222 DD offshore Direct Drive wind turbines at the 300 MW Hai Long 2 project in Taiwan.Later on the same day, SGRE said the same type of turbine - launched just last week - would conditionally be supplied to the massive 2,640-MW Dominion Energy Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) commercial project.

Fugro IOVTEC Wins Survey Work at Hai Long Wind Farm Sites

Fugro IOVTEC, a JV between Dutch Fugro and Taiwan's IOVTEC, has secured an offshore geotechnical site investigation project in Taiwan for the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 offshore wind farms. The Hai Long offshore wind farms are being co-developed by Northland Power Inc, Yushan Energy, and Mitsui & Co. Under the newly awarded contract, Fugro IOVTEC will acquire Geo-data at 32 wind turbine locations and the site investigation will be carried out in two phases: seabed and downhole. The seabed phase will be performed using Fugro’s SEACALF continuous drive system.

MRE to Support SeaMade Offshore Wind Farm Turbine Commissioning

Denmark's Vestas Breaks Wind Turbine Installation Record, Woodmac Says

Danish wind farm turbine builder Vestas became the first wind turbine manufacturer to install more than 10 GW of wind capacity in a single year (2019), according to new analysis from Wood Mackenzie.The Danish OEM’s grid-connected capacity of 11.3 GW in 2019 is an increase of 1.5 GW on 2018, with installations completed in over 35 markets. The company’s installations in the Americas region contributed more than 50% of capacity for the first time. DEME Installs Second SeaMade Offshore Wind Farm Substation

Offshore installation company DEME has installed the second offshore substation at the SeaMade offshore wind farm in Belgium.In a social media post on Wednesday,  Deme said: "The two substations for the SeaMade offshore wind farm have been successfully installed in the Belgian North Sea with heavy lift vessel ‘Gulliver’. Germany’s biggest OWF Operational Now

Germany’s biggest wind farm has been fully connected to the grid. According to EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG  (EnBW), its  Albatros offshore wind farm is  located roughly 100 km off the coast of Germany."The Hohe See offshore wind farm has already been in operation since October 2019. Now its smaller neighbour Albatros is also producing electricity," it has informed.The Albatros project features 16 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-7.0-154  turbines. Albatros is located near the 497 MW Hohe See project which consists of 71 SWT-7.0-154 turbines.

SGRE Completes Senvion Purchase

The renewable energy major Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has finalized the acquisition of Senvion's European onshore service assets and intellectual property (IP).The German-Spanish manufacturer said in a press release that it has a “robust integration plan” for the assets, which will add 9GW of machines in 13 countries to its service book, bringing the total to 69GW.The addition of the Senvion assets marks an important step in the company’s growth strategy, part of the company’s L3AD2020 strategic program…

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has announced that in less than a year, and aligned to its commitment to sustainability it has accumulated €1.72 billion ($1.9Bn) in green guarantee lines."SGRE is moving forward in its strategy of making sustainability a key element of all aspects of its business, including its funding strategy," said a press statement.Siemens Gamesa recently extended a guarantee line from Danske Bank to €150 million from an initial €100 million and included Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) criteria.

DEME Unveils First SOV for Offshore Wind

SGRE Raises $1.6Bln in ‘Green’ Credit

EDF Begins Construction on 450 MW OWF

French utility EDF Group announced that its subsidiary EDF Renewables has launched the construction of the Scottish Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm project along with the new partners, the Irish electricity company Electricity Supply Board (ESB), which is taking a 50% stake in the project.The 450MW Neart na Gaoithe will consist of 54 turbines and will be located in the North Sea approximately 15 kilometers off the coast of Fife in south-east Scotland.When fully operational, the NnG offshore wind farm will generate the equivalent electricity to power over 375…

SGRE Wins Hai Long 2 OWP

Spanish global renewable energy company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has been selected as the preferred supplier of turbines for the 300MW Hai Long 2 offshore wind project in Taiwan.The agreement is subject to contract and final investment decision from the consortium partners, Canadian independent power producer Northland Power Inc. and Taiwan-based developer Yushan Energy.The 300 MW Hai Long 2 offshore wind power plant project was awarded through the 2018 grid allocation mechanism in Taiwan. The project site is located approximately 50 kilometers off the coast of Changhua County.

Orsted Breaks Ground for Taiwan OWP

Construction of Taiwan's Formosa 2, an offshore wind power (OWP) development project, officially broke ground in Miaoli County.Orsted Taiwan said in a statement that it held a ground-breaking ceremony for the onshore substation works for the 900MW Greater Changhua 1&2a offshore wind farm off Taiwan.Ørsted awarded an onshore substation EPC contract to TCC last November. TCC will build two onshore substations, cable corridors, and transition joint bays for the first 900MW Greater Changhua projects.

SGRE Powers Google in Sweden

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured an order to supply its turbines for a 254MW wind farm in Sweden that will power Google’s Hamina data centre in Finland.The Stavro wind farm, SGRE's largest ever onshore wind order in Sweden,  will use 62 turbines with a 4.1MW rating.
