MODEC Connects Offshore Fleet with O3b/RigNet

O3b Networks, technology solutions company RigNet and floating production service provider MODEC, entered an agreement to provide high-throughput, low latency connectivity for MODEC’s Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels off the coast of Brazil. BIG DATA: First Intelsat EpicNG Satellite Launched

The launch yesterday of  the Intelsat 29e, the first of the Intelsat EpicNG high throughput satellites, promises to usher in a new era of "Big Data" in the maritime sector, among others. The satellite was launched from French Guiana aboard an Ariane 5 vehicle. Manufactured by Boeing and equipped with advanced digital payload, Intelsat 29e will bring high throughput capacity in both C- and Ku-band to North and Latin America and the North Atlantic region. Intelsat 29e will be placed into service at 310° East, where it replaces Intelsat 1R.

Technip Expands Communications with MTN

Technip flagship, pipelay and construction vessel Deep Blue, will receive communications and content services from MTN.

MTN Communications announced that Technip, a company performing project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry, has awarded a new contract that will service a substantial portion of its global fleet with broadband communications. MTN has delivered communications to Technip for the past 10 years, and this enhanced contract more than doubles the number of Technip vessels MTN is serving. MTN will now provide communication services to fleet vessels in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia.
