Great Ships of 2020: Seri Everest, World’s Largest Ethane Carrier

Seri Everest, the first in a series of three 98,000 cbm Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) built at Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI) and delivered to MISC Berhad on October 30, 2020. Seri Everest is the first from a series of six VLECs that MISC purchased in July 2020. As a second generation VLEC, Seri Everest is one of the largest vessels of its kind in the world.With the delivery of MISC’s first VLEC – Seri Everest, she has set a new benchmark in the ethane market.

Delfin Delays Final Louisiana FLNG Project

Delfin Midstream Inc has delayed its plan to make a final investment decision on its proposed Delfin Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) export terminal in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana to 2020 from 2019.Delfin said in a release on Tuesday it entered into new agreements for front-end design and engineering work on a newbuild FLNG vessel with units of Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd and Black & Veatch. Höegh LNG Wins FSRU Deal with Cheniere

Norway-based floating LNG giant Höegh LNG has signed a time charter contract for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Galleon with Cheniere Marketing International.The time charter commences in September 2019 after the delivery of the unit, Höegh LNG’s tenth, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.The terms of the time charter ensure the Höegh Galleon’s availability to serve the AIE project in Port Kembla, Australia, where Höegh LNG is the FSRU provider on a back-to-back basis.

FLNG Market Grows a CAGR of +93%

Global floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) market is growing at a CAGR of +93% during forecast period 2019-2026 as the demand for natural gas has been rising as it is a preferred fuel in power generation in various industries.According to a report from Research N Reports, the demand comes from mainly for the regions such as North America, Europe, China, Japan, Southeast Asia and India.Natural gas is cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective than other fuels.

Samsung Heavy Sells Drilling Rig for $500 Mln

South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd said on Monday it has agreed to sell a semi-submersible drilling rig for $500 million to an unidentified European company.   The world's third-largest shipbuilder by orderbook said Sweden's Stena, which originally ordered the drilling rig, had cancelled the order last year.   Last week, Samsung Heavy agreed to sell the rig to a European third party, resolving the risk of non-payment, the firm said in a regulatory filing. Hoegh LNG orders FSRU from Hyundai

Höegh LNG Holdings Ltd. has signed a new Shipbuilding Contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. for a new Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for delivery in Q4 2018. The FSRU will have a storage capacity of 170,000 m3 and a max regasification capacity of 1,000 MMscf/day and with full trading capabilities. ABS and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) of South Korea announced the conclusion of a joint development project (JDP) for a new tension leg platform (TLP) design. “Our collaboration with SHI underscores ABS’ role as a technology leader and trusted advisor in the offshore industry,” says ABS Executive Vice President, Global Offshore, Ken Richardson. The new TLP hull concept, the Samsung Enhanced hull for Tendon (SET) TLP, was developed using boundary conditions such as those encountered offshore West Africa.

Petrobras Probe Seeks to Question Overseas Witnesses

A Brazilian lobbyist implicated in the country's largest-ever corruption probe has called witnesses from four foreign countries to bolster his defense against bribery charges, highlighting the Petrobras scandal's growing international reach. The judge overseeing the probe agreed to the lobbyist's request to call five witnesses from South Korea, the Netherlands, Cayman Islands and Japan for questioning over alleged kickbacks for former Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) executives and intermediaries on deals with a Korean shipbuilding firm, the court said on Wednesday.

GasLog Ltd. Announces Delivery of 'Solaris'

GasLog Ltd. is pleased to announce the delivery of the fully owned LNG carrier Solaris, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. She today, commenced a medium-term charter to Shell Tankers Singapore (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc. The vessel is a 155,000 cubic meter tri-fuel Diesel Electric (TFDE) LNG carrier that sets new standards for efficient performance and environmental protection. The vessel is classified to the ABS ENVIRO+ notation, signifying the highest level of environmental protection and energy conservation.

S.Korea's Samsung Heavy wins $1.27 bln drillships order

Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd said on Wednesday it won a 1.34 trillion won ($1.27 billion) order to build two drillships for an unnamed firm based in or near Australia.
