ClassNK AiP for Ammonia Fuel Supply System

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Seaborg Technologies have announced a consortium to develop floating nuclear power plants with Seaborg Technologies' molten salt reactor technology. Tech File: SHI Develops onboard Carbon Capture System

SHI reports that it has successfully developed an 'Onboard Carbon Capture' system which can be applicable to LNG fueled vessels with PANASIA, an eco-friendly and energy system expert, and received Approval in Principle from KR, Korean classification society, for the first time in Korea.This approved green technology separates and collects carbon dioxide among exhaust gas of LNG, which is burned in a ship engine or generator, using an Amine based liquid absorbent.

Petronas Names Second FLNG in S. Korea

Russia's Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has awarded the contract for the LNG carriers for the Arctic LNG 2 project to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Norway-based floating LNG giant Höegh LNG has signed a time charter contract for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Galleon with Cheniere Marketing International.The time charter commences in September 2019 after the delivery of the unit, Höegh LNG’s tenth, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.The terms of the time charter ensure the Höegh Galleon’s availability to serve the AIE project in Port Kembla, Australia, where Höegh LNG is the FSRU provider on a back-to-back basis.

Qatar Mulls Buying 60 New LNG Carriers

Qatar’s energy minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, who also serves as deputy chairman of Qatar Petroleum (QP), outlined plans to order 60 new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.Reuters, quoting a statement issued by South Korea’s presidential office, reported that the energy minister expects cooperation with experienced Korean shipbuilders on constructing the LNG carriers.Qatar is the world’s largest supplier of LNG, with an annual production of 77 million tons.
