One person was killed and a second was injured in an explosion at Nexen Energy's Long Lake oil sands facility south of Fort McMurray, Alberta, on Friday, the company said. Two Railcars Carrying Propane Derail in Manitoba

A train carrying unscented propane derailed in Emerson, Manitoba, on Tuesday, prompting the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to evacuate 40 people from nearby homes as a precaution. Two cars left the tracks at around 7:30 a.m. local time (1230 GMT) and the RCMP said there were no leaks detected, or injuries or fire as a result of the accident.
