Prysmian to Open Submarine Cable Plant in the US

Prysmian Group said it is moving ahead with its project for a new submarine power cable plant in the U.S., announcing the signing of the contract for the purchase by Prysmian of the site identified in Brayton Point (Massachusetts). The final acquisition of the site is subject to securing state permits for the construction of the new plant. if approved, the total investment to build the new plant will amount to around $200 million.Finalization of the plans for the U.S.

Prysmian's Cables for Hollandse Kust Zuid III and IV Offshore Wind Farm

Prysmian Group, Italian marine cable installation company Prysmian, has finalized a contract for a project awarded by offshore wind farm developer Vattenfall.The contract is for the provision of the subsea inter-array cable systems for the Hollandse Kust Zuid III and IV offshore wind farm in The Netherlands, following Vattenfall’s successful bid for the permit to develop these non-subsidized wind farms. The award was already announced on July 29, 2019 and the notice to proceed is expected later this year, Prysmian said.

Prysmian CEO Says Not Interested in Nexans

France cable maker Nexans is not the right target for industry leader Prysmian which is scouting for possible acquisitions, the chief executive of the Italian group said on Tuesday. "There would be several overlaps with Nexans," CEO Valerio Battista said on the sideline of a conference, adding getting antitrust approval for the deal would require Prysmian to sell assets. "It's no use to look at (a target) if you then have to sell assets," he said.

Prysmian Bolsters Offshore Cable Production

Responding to an increased demand for European offshore wind farms, energy and telecom cable systems manufacturer Prysmian Group has expanded capability at its U.K. production facility in Wrexham to manufacture both 33 kV and 66 kV submarine cable cores used for the inter-array cable connections in offshore wind farms. The new product line will enable the linking and collecting of power produced by offshore wind turbines before onward transmission to the onshore grid.

Prysmian Secures Rentel Wind Farm Work

Prysmian Group has been awarded a contract - worth up to 13 M euro - by Tideway B.V. for the Rentel offshore wind farm project. Rentel N.V. was founded by a consortium of Belgian specialists in renewable energy, who have joined forces to develop, finance and operate the Rentel offshore wind project, which holds a 309 MW offshore wind concession in the Belgian North Sea. The Rentel wind farm is located approximately 34 km from the Port of Zeebrugge and approximately 40 km from Oostende off the Belgian coast.

Ecosse Subsea Systems Wins $3.9m Carousel Contract

Robert “Bob” Conners has been appointed CEO of Umbilicals International, a Houston-based provider of high performance umbilicals, cables and hoses to the oil and gas, diving, seismic and defense industries. Conners will be responsible for developing the company’s global umbilicals, and cables business for the offshore, onshore and defense sectors. Prysmian Launches New Cable Solution
