Shell Weighs Sale of $2B-plus Share in Queensland LNG
Royal Dutch Shell is considering raising more than $2 billion from the sale of a stake in the common facilities at its Queensland Curtis LNG plant in Australia, according to a sale flyer reviewed by Reuters."Royal Dutch Shell plc is considering a sale of a 26.25% interest in the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Common Facilities - a multibillion-dollar investment opportunity," the sale flyer said.The sale process is being run by Rothschild & Co and is due to be completed in 2020, the document showed.Shell declined to comment on what it called market speculation.

MOL Invests in Self-Elevating Platform Vessel Operator
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today announced a plan to acquire a 5% share in Seajacks International Limited (Seajacks) Group, which owns and operates five Self-Elevating Platform vessels(*1), from Marubeni Corporation. This is a new offshore business for MOL, following FPSO(*2), FSRU (*3), shuttle tanker (*4), and subsea support vessel (*5). It is also the first step to move into the renewable energy business field through involvement in installation of offshore wind power generation systems, which is expanding in Europe and other areas around the world.
MHPS Bags 2 Turbines Orders for Korean Power Plant
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS), jointly with Marubeni Corporation, has received an order for two M501J gas turbines and a steam turbine for the new 950 megawatt (MW) class LNG-fired Pyeongtaek Combined Cycle Power Plant to be built by Shin Pyeongtaek Power Co., Ltd., a special purpose company (SPC) established by Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (KOWEPO), GS Energy Corporation and other companies. In addition, MHPS signed a long-term service agreement (LTSA) for the gas turbines, which are core components of natural gas-fired, gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plants. MHPS Bags Order from Hartha Power, Iraq
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) has received an order from the Ministry of Electricity (MOE) of Iraq for refurbishment of Unit 4 (output: 200 megawatts) at the Hartha Thermal Power Station. The refurbishment work, scheduled for completion in May 2017, requires large-scale replacement of core components of the plant's seriously degraded power generation facilities. The project is being financed through a Japanese ODA (Overseas Development Assistance) loan extended to the Government of the Republic of Iraq. The Hartha Thermal Power Station, which incorporates both gas- and oil-fired units, is located in the city of Basra in Iraq's south.
MHI Completes Testing of Wireless Power Transmission Technology
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has conducted ground demonstration testing of "wireless power transmission," a new technology presently under development to serve as the core technology of the space solar power systems (SSPS) that are expected to be the power generation systems of the future. With successful completion of the test at the company's Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works, MHI has now verified the viability of long-distance wireless power transmission. In the ground demonstration test, 10 kilowatts (kW) of power was sent from a transmitting unit by microwave.
Sovcomflot Names New LNG Carrier
Russia’s largest shipping company is continuing to develop its potential in the LNG transportation segment by entering into a new long-term agreement with Royal Dutch Shell. On December 16, a naming ceremony was held for the LNG carrier SCF Melampus, the third tanker in a series of state-of-the-art vessels to be built under a partnership agreement between Sovcomflot and the shipyard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The first two tankers of the series, Velikiy Novgorod and Pskov, have already been put into operation on long-term contracts with Gazprom, with the design of SCF Melampus a continuation of this project.
ABB, Vestas to Electrify Off-grid African Areas
ABB and Vestas today signed a partnership agreement whereby they will contribute with their respective technologies to help rural communities in developing markets gain access to affordable clean electricity. The two companies will jointly deliver power technology and system integration solutions for remote off-grid and microgrid communities. Under the agreement, factory-refurbished Vestas wind turbines will be combined with ABB microgrid power stabilization solutions to create hybrid generation systems well-suited to operate in remote locations with limited infrastructure.
IGCC System for Tokyo Electric Power
A consortium led by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) has received an order from Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) for design work for a large-scale integrated coal gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) system to be adopted for a project to create the world's most advanced coal-fired thermal power plants. The project plans call for the construction of two 500-megawatt (MW) class IGCC plants in Fukushima Prefecture to help promote local industrial recovery. Following receipt of the order, the consortium, which also includes Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mechatronics Systems, Ltd.
Mitsubishi Hitachi Agreement With Daewoo E&C
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) has signed a contract with Daewoo Engineering & Construction Ltd. (Daewoo E&C) under which MHPS is to supply two M501J gas turbines, one steam turbine and three generators for the Pocheon Combined Cycle Power Plant, a gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power generation plant in Korea. The power plant is slated to go on stream in November 2016. The agreement increases the collective number of J-Series gas turbine supply by MHPS to Korea to 13 units. The GTCC plant will be built in Pocheon, a city located approximately 45 kilometers northwest of Seoul, by Daewoo Energy Co., Ltd., a special purpose company (SPC) affiliated with Daewoo E&C.
MHI's Distributed Power Business Development Department
Effective July 1, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will establish a new "Distributed Power Business Development Department" within its Energy & Environment business domain to oversee business relating to small and medium-size power systems and equipment. The new department will integrate the company's distributed power business operations currently straddling two domains: Energy & Environment and Machinery, Equipment & Infrastructure. Its creation will enable MHI to shift its business model for distributed power systems from individual product sales to marketing and provision of solution packages, including servicing, matching market's diverse needs.
