Malaysia's Petronas, Petros finalising deal on gas distribution in Sarawak state, PM says

Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, said that Petroliam Nasional Berhad and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad are working to finalize details for a long-delayed gas distribution agreement in Sarawak. Both companies have been at odds for months over Sarawak's plans to take control of all gas trading within the energy-rich state away from Petronas - whose sole shareholder, the Malaysian Government, is Petros. Media reports claim that Sarawak Premier Abang Johari openedg said a solution had been reached this week, and Anwar will make an announcement soon. Anwar stated that "clear decisions" were made but that the firms are still discussing finer details.

Malaysia's natural gas and crude oil production will decline by 2025

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's government announced on Friday that it expects a lower crude oil and natural gas output in 2025 as a result of planned maintenance shutdowns and a softer demand for some export markets. In a report that was released along with its budget for 2025, the government stated that natural gas production would decline in 2025 as a result of the planned closures in the state of Sarawak due to maintenance. The government did not identify the two facilities. The company also expects a moderated demand from major LNG importers like Japan, China and South Korea.

Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia's Prime Minister, said that the country would not stop oil and gas exploration on the South China Sea in spite of Beijing's claims that Malaysia had infringed on its territory. Anwar, who is currently in Russia on an official visit, stated that Malaysia's exploration was within its own territory, and it wasn't meant to be provocative towards China. Anwar stated in a Vladivostok televised news conference that "we will of course have to operate within our waters in order to secure an economic advantage. Malaysia's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that it will investigate the leaked diplomatic note of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Malaysian state-run giant Petroliam Nasional (Petronas) subsidiary Petronas LNG (PLL) has signed a 12-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with China’s Shenergy Group. Malaysia's state energy firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd said on Tuesday its third-quarter profit nearly halved due to lower demand and impairment charges, and warned of further risks to demand.Profit for the July-September period at Petronas, as the company is better known, dropped to 7.4 billion ringgit ($1.77 billion) from 14.3 billion ringgit a year before.Net impairment charges totaled 2.6 billion ringgit, while revenue fell 14% to 55.1 billion ringgit, hurt by lower prices and reduced sales volume for crude oil and condensates."The outlook for the industry remains challenging.

Petronas sells Bunga Kekwa crude at higher premium

Malaysia's Petroliam Nasional Bhd, or Petronas, has sold one cargo of December-loading Bunga Kekwa crude at a premium of around $6.50 a barrel to dated Brent via a spot tender, two trade sources said on Friday.The buyer was a trader, but the cargo will likely go to a Thai refinery.The cargo was offered to load over Dec. 23-29.Spot premiums for December-loading regional crude cargoes have shot up as Asian buyers snapped up short-haul supplies after freight rates jumped.Prior to this, Vietnam's PV Oil sold one cargo of October-loading Bunga Kekwa crude at a premium of close to $4 a barrel to dated Brent.(Reporting By Shu Zhang; Editing by Shounak Dasgupta)

Petronas Completes 3rd LNG Break Bulking STS Transfer

Petronas LNG Ltd (PLL), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas),  has completed its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo through its break bulking ship-to-ship (STS) transfer  to two buyers.The LNG break-bulking STS transfer took place in Brunei Bay, Sabah, Malaysia. It is the first for Petronas in expanding its customer base by providing solutions to two buyers, said the national oil and gas company.According to a report in Bernama, the delivering vessel, Seri Bijaksana, transferred 80,000 m3 of LNG to LNG vessel, Polar Spirit and 62,000 m3 to Lerici, which then made their separate deliveries to two separate receiving terminals in China.

Petronas Q2 Profit Rises 8%

Malaysia's state-owned energy firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd reported an 8% increase in second-quarter profit on Friday because of a weaker Malaysian ringgit, though that was partially offset by higher product costs.Petronas, as the company is known, said profit after tax for April-June rose to 14.7 billion ringgit, up from 13.6 billion ringgit ($3.25 billion) in the same period a year earlier.Revenue at the firm decreased marginally to 59.1 billion ringgit from 59.2 billion ringgit, mainly due to lower average realized prices for petroleum products and liquefied natural gas.($1 = 4.1790 ringgit)(Reporting by Rozanna Latiff; editing by Christian Schmollinger)

Petronas Signs Offshore Deal with Gabon

Malaysian oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has signed an agreement with Gabon for two exploration permits after the African country enacted a new oil law last month.A Bloomberg report quoted Noel Mboumba, Gabon’s petroleum minister saying that the deal follows the enactment of a revised hydrocarbons code last month, made with the support of the International Monetary Fund.The new code is more fiscally attractive than the previous one, the statement said citing Mboumba, the report said.Petronas  already has a presence in Gabon and is the first company to sign an exploration and production contract in the country in five years.
