Wood Promotes Leonard in Americas Role

Engineering firm Wood said it has appointed Paul Leonard as President of Operations Services in its Americas business to succeed Tim O’Leary, who is retiring from the company after a 20-year tenure.Wood’s Operations Services business complements the company’s capital projects businesses through the provision of operations, maintenance, modifications, asset management, shale facilities and pipeline construction services to clients in the upstream and midstream energy sectors, notably the US shale markets.

Bilfinger Secures Johan Sverdrup Contracts

GE Power Division Signs $3 bln Services Deal in Algeria

GE Power, a division of General Electric Co, has signed a services deal with a subsidiary of Algerian utility Sonelgaz valued at more than $3 billion, the largest such agreement ever for GE Power, GE said on Monday. Under the 20-year contract with Sonelgaz SPE, GE will provide long-term maintenance and operations services for 10 power plants in Algeria, which produce 11 gigawatts of power, about 70 percent of Algeria's electricity, GE said. The agreement is expected to save Sonelgaz $2 billion in gas costs over 20 years, GE said.

Aker Solutions Boosting Cost-efficiency

Aker Solutions says it is making progress in reaching a goal of boosting cost-efficiency in all areas of the company by at least 30 percent as part of a broader effort to strengthen its competitiveness amid current market challenges. A quarter of the targeted improvement will be achieved this year, helping to achieve potential annualized cost-savings of at least NOK 9 billion by the end of 2017, based on the 2015 cost base and work volumes. The improvements are expected to speed up next year as longer-term processes take hold.

Statoil Inks Subsea pacts with Duo

Statoil Petroleum AS has signed Master Service Agreements with Aker Solutions ASA and OneSubsea Processing AS. The agreements signed form the basis for potential new EPC contracts (engineering, procurement and construction) for subsea equipment in the medium term future. An EPC option agreement for subsea production system (SPS) has also been signed with OneSubsea, including framework agreements for subsea operations services and subsea add-ons.

CWind Launches German Subsidiary

CWind announced the launch of its wholly-owned subsidiary in Germany. CWind Germany will be headquartered in Hamburg and will be responsible for the sales and marketing of CWind’s services in Germany. The company has also said it has won the license to lease employees under German law, known in Germany as ‘Arbeitnehmerüberlassungslizenz’ and is now in a position to lease employees as third party technicians to German client companies. CWind is building a leading position in the U.K.

Baker Hughes Acquires Software Company Perfomix

Baker Hughes Incorporated (BHI) announced the acquisition of Perfomix, Inc., a Texas-based oilfield software technology company focused on solutions to enhance oil and gas operations' performance. Perfomix will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Baker Hughes and will be integrated into the company's remote operations services organization. Perfomix offers a data and advisory services delivery platform to support drilling, pressure pumping, completions and production operations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
