Norway Gives up Seeking Subsidy Approval for Arctic Oil Terminal

Norway has given up seeking permission from European competition authorities to provide state support to energy firm Statoil to bring oil and gas onshore from its Arctic Johan Castberg find, the country's oil ministry said on Tuesday. Norway had wanted to offer a package of incentives to Statoil and Italian partner ENI to help set up an onshore processing oil terminal for the field, seen to contain up to 650 million barrels of oil equivalents.

Gulf Navigation Maritime, Dana Gas Collaborate

Gulf Navigation Maritime, a part of Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC, the Dubai-based shipping company, has signed an agreement with private sector natural gas company Dana Gas to provide complete logistics, transportation, marine and passenger/crew handling services for the Zora Gas Field project. Dana Gas is currently engaged in the development of gas production in the Zora Gas Field located 30 km from Sharjah and the Ajman coastline at a depth of 82 feet.

DNV GL Wins Ichthys LNG project Contract

DNV GL has secured a contract to provide in-service verification and classification services to a range of facilities at the Ichthys LNG project in Australia. The contract marks INPEX’s commitment to continue working with DNV GL as it prepares to transition from the project execution phase to the operational phase of the mega project. DNV GL has provided vendor inspection, verification and offshore classification support to the USD 34 billion venture since 2012.

Aker Solutions won its first order for a project offshore Mexico as it secured a contract from Saipem to supply umbilicals for the Pemex-operated Lakach deepwater natural-gas field. Aker Solutions will deliver electro-hydraulic steel tube umbilicals of about 73 kilometers (45 miles) that will help connect Mexico's first subsea gas development to onshore processing facilities. The field is located about 98 kilometres (60 miles) southeast of Veracruz at depths of between 900 and 1,200 meters in the Gulf of Mexico.

Production Begins at Sakhalin-1 Arkutun-Dagi Field

Exxon Mobil Corporation has begun production at the Sakhalin-1 project’s Arkutun-Dagi field, the last of the three fields to be developed. Peak daily production from the field is expected to reach 90,000 barrels, the company said. The field, located off the northeast coast of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East, will bring total daily production at Sakhalin-1 to more than 200,000 barrels. The other two fields, Chayvo and Odoptu, began production in 2005 and 2010, respectively.
