Danos Hires Rousse in VP Role

Oilfield services company Danos said it has named Daryl Rousse as vice president of production services.The announcement follows Danos’ recent acquisition of Shamrock Energy Solutions, where Rousse served as chief operating officer for three years.Prior to joining Shamrock, Rousse spent 26 years with Royal Dutch Shell, where he worked as the Gulf of Mexico pipeline operations manager for 16 years and later operations readiness and assurance lead for special projects. Additionally, he held the positions of chief operating officer of Odyssey Pipeline Company and president of Ursa Pipeline Company.

“Twisties” to Aid Offshore Wind Logistics

DNV GL launched a new joint industry project (JIP) to develop a Recommended Practice intended to de-risk the adoption of “Twisties” and demonstrate the unitization of wind project cargo. The innovative concept is called “Twisties” - a modular project-cargo transport frame system that is sea-fastened using container twist locks – and which gives the frames their name. The increasing size and quantities of wind turbines installed offshore means that a change in requirements is needed for shipping project cargo between manufacturing and marshalling port facilities, and feeding wind turbine installation vessels offshore.

Women Engineers Play Key Role in Submarine Races

MOre than 100 young people from 11 universities from six countries on three continents gather to take part in the European International Submarine Races. The event organizers are celebrating National Women in Engineering Day by highlighting the strength the involvement of women had in teams. “Twenty percent of the participants are women, and we celebrate the complete equality of roles in the teams,” says Race Director, Prof William Megill. “Some will have taken a very active role in the design of their submarine, which will be racing against the clock fully submerged with the pilot in SCUBA gear pedaling round a grueling slalom course.

Odyssey Marine Exploration (Tampa, Florida) has recently procured a powerful MacArtney MERMAC R50 AHC (Active Heave Compensation) winch for use onboard the R/V Dorado Discovery. In partnership with St. Vincent Bay Exploration (SVBE) based out of Moss Landing, California, Odyssey will use the winch to deploy various seafloor exploration systems and equipment in the Pacific Ocean. Odyssey Exploration Begins 2013 Gairsoppa Operations

Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc., a company in the field of deep-ocean shipwreck and offshore mineral exploration, has begun 2013 operations on the SS Gairsoppa shipwreck site as scheduled. On May 22, the Odyssey team aboard Swire Seabed's Seabed Worker left port in Bergen, Norway.
