Statoil Awards $1.5 Bln Drilling Contracts

Statoil has awarded drilling contracts to Archer, KCA Deutag and Odfjell Drilling for drilling, completion, intervention services, plugging, maintenance and modifications on 18 of Statoil’s fixed platforms. COPENHAGEN, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Prospects for the offshore oil drilling market are improving but profits for drillers are still under pressure and rates will not rise before 2019, the head of A.P. Moller-Maersk's energy business said. Oil firms have seen cash flow climb in 2017 a high since a three-year slump in crude prices, lifted by their cost-cutting plans and a crude price recovery.

The PSA has given Statoil consent to drill exploration well 6507/3-12 in the Norwegian Sea. Statoil is the operator for production licence 159B in block 6507/3 in the Norwegian Sea west of Sandnessjøen. The PSA has given Statoil consent to drill exploration well 6507/3-12 in a prospect named Mim. Water depth at the site is 381 metres. Drilling is scheduled to begin in early January 2017 and will last 27 days.

Sea Chest Blanks Ordered for Gina Krog FSO

Teekay Shipping has ordered four sea chest blanks from Norwegian magnetic technology specialists, Miko Marine. The closures will be delivered in August for use on the former shuttle tanker Randgrid which is currently undergoing a $220 million conversion into the Gina Krog floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel in Sembawang dockyard in Singapore.

Statoil Awards Norwegian Continental Shelf Drilling Contract

Statoil has, on behalf of relevant licensees, exercised options for previously awarded drilling service contracts for fixed installations. Options have been exercised for 17 installations on the Norwegian continental shelf. In 2012 Statoil awarded contracts for four years with options for three times two-year extension to Archer, KCA Deutag and Odfjell.
