Norway's sovereign wealth fund has trimmed the proportion of its $1 trillion fortune that is invested in companies that emit the most greenhouse gas, a Reuters survey has shown. Environmental campaigners hope the move by the world's biggest state-owned investment fund signals the start of a trend for investors shifting their money away from activities blamed for climate change.

Statmett's Monopoly on Power Links Backed

Norway's power grid operator Statnett should retain a monopoly on building and operating international power links, the country's competition regulator said on Wednesday, in an unusual move. Statnett was granted exclusive rights by the former centre-left government in 2013, putting on hold a project to build a NorthConnect link to Britain by a group of Norwegian power companies and Sweden's Vattenfall.

Statoil Awards Johan Sverdrup Drilling Contracts

Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup licence, has awarded two contracts at a total value of more than NOK 4.35 billion to Odfjell Drilling for drilling wells on the Johan Sverdrup field. Odfjell Drilling has been awarded contracts both for the Deepsea Atlantic semi-submersible rig and for drilling services on the fixed drilling unit to be installed on the Johan Sverdup field.

Statoil Awards Living Quarters Contract for Johan Sverdrup

Statoil is, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, signing a contract with a joint venture consisting of Kvaerner and KBR for construction of the topside for the utility and living quarters platform. The contract has a value of NOK 6.7 billion. The contract includes engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the topside for the Johan Sverdrup utility and living quarters platform.

Statoil has, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, awarded a contract to ABB for land-based power supply to phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field. The contract value is around NOK 1.1 billion, and covers delivery of electrical equipment for a converter station by the Kårstø processing complex at Haugsneset in the municipality of Tysvær, and a power module on the riser platform at the Johan Sverdrup field centre.

Johan Sverdrup Contract to "Pioneering Spirit"

Statoil has signed a contract with Allseas for installation of three platform topsides on the Johan Sverdrup field. The vessel will be installing the topsides for the drilling, processing and living quarter platforms.Allseas will transfer the topsides to Pioneering Spirit before they are transported to the Johan Sverdrup field. On the field Pioneering Spirit will install the topside on the steel jackets.

Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, will sign a contract with Aibel for the construction of the deck for the drilling platform on the field. The contract is worth in excess of NOK 8 billion. The contract includes engineering work, procurement and construction (EPC) of the drilling platform deck. The platform deck will be built at the Aibel’s yard in Thailand and Haugesund, and at Nymo’s yard in Grimstad.

Electrification of Utsira High to Happen by 2022

The Norwegian parliament's energy committee has agreed the electrification of oil platforms on the Utsira High in the North Sea with power from land must be completed by 2022, Norwegian lawmakers said on Wednesday. The decision means that the $20 billion development of the Johan Sverdrup oilfield, expected to start producing oil in 2019, will not be delayed as had been the concern earlier.
