Lukoil Opens Russia's Largest Vacuum Gasoil Processing Complex

Lukoil, Russia's No. 2 oil producer, opened the country's largest vacuum gasoil (VGO) hydrocracking facility at its Volgograd refinery on Tuesday, built as part of a sweeping modernisation of the country's refineries. The $2.2 billion VGO complex, which also includes hydrogen and sulphur production, can process up to 3.5 million tonnes of VGO a year.

One Killed in Accident at Rosneft's Komsomolsk Refinery

One worker was killed in an accident at oil company Rosneft's Komsomolsk refinery located in Russia's Far East, the refinery's press-service said in emailed statement on Tuesday. The worker was from a contractor firm working on the site, it added. The refinery added in a detailed statement later on Tuesday that the accident had occurred during tests at a pipeline which was undergoing maintenance works.

Lukoil Now Filling ULSD Pipeline to Vysotsk

Russia's Lukoil has began filling a pipeline destined for its export terminal in the Baltic Sea port of Vysotsk with ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) on Wednesday evening, two industry sources told Reuters. Novatek Starts ESPO Blend Exports From Kozmino

Novatek started exporting ESPO Blend for the first time from the Far-Eastern port of Kozmino in January, traders said. The company sold 60,000 tonnes of ESPO Blend to trading company Concept Oil, which creates export cargoes for small oil producers in East Siberia, market participants said. ESPO Blend cargoes for small producers are sold on the Asian market by Swiss-based trading company Tenergy.

Gunvor sells last asset in Russia

Trading house Gunvor has agreed to sell its last asset in Russia, a 50 percent stake in the Novorossiisk fuel oil terminal to a subsidiary of Kremlin-controlled Transneft, an industry source told Reuters on Monday. Gunvor, one of the world's top five oil trading houses, has been seeking to limit its exposure to Russia since former co-owner, Russian billionaire Gennady Timchenko, was hit by U.S. sanctions last year.

Urals Weakens Further in Baltic

Russian Urals crude differentials continued to slide in the Baltic on Thursday amid a flurry of activity with softer refining margins, pushed down by higher oil prices, still keeping buyers at bay. In the Platts window, Statoil bought a 100,000-tonne cargo from Glencore for loadings on Oct. 18-22 in the Baltic at dated Brent minus $2 a barrel, some 20 cents weaker than on Wednesday, traders said.

Oil producer Rosneft started test runs of a new vacuum unit at its refinery in the Black Sea port of Tuapse this month as it plans to start production of vacuum gas oil (VGO) and to launch exports in June, industry sources said. "They (Rosneft) started operations of a vacuum unit (at the Tuapse refinery), but so far only in a test mode," one trader told Reuters.

Russian oil refinery runs in December fell by 2.1 percent month-on-month or 123,787 barrels per day (bpd) due to a series of outages, data from the Energy Ministry and Reuters calculations showed. Refineries processed 5.862 million barrels of crude oil per day in December versus 5.986 million in November. Three major Russian refineries were hit by unplanned outages in December, Reuters data showed.

One tender calls for bids to buy up to 540,000 tonnes of VGO from Rosneft's Ryazan and Novokuybishevsk refineries on a free-on-board (FOB) basis from the Baltic Sea.
