Spirit Energy Hires PD&MS for Complex E&P Modifications

Aberdeen-based engineering and design firm PD&MS has been awarded a new three-year contract with options for a further three-year extension with oil company Spirit Energy. The deal, worth an undisclosed multimillion-pound sum, will see PD&MS deliver complex modifications for the E&P business.The engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning firm has worked with Spirit Energy since 2018, providing decommissioning support in the Morecambe Bay area.

EnerMech Get $24m Contract Lift. EnerMech has secured a cranes and lifting services contract with an international Operator in the North Sea along with an extension of many existing contracts worth just over $24m. The company will provide crane maintenance and crane management to three North Sea platforms on behalf of the new client. The five year contract  includes offshore crane maintenance and operation, onshore support and repair facilities, crane spare parts, engineering, and consultancy support.

Bibby Offshore Bags Spirit Energy Contract

Subsea services provider Bibby Offshore said it has secured a fixed term framework agreement with independent oil and gas operator Spirit Energy.Awarded in April, the two-year agreement, which follows on from a previous five-year agreement, will see Bibby Offshore carry out inspection repair and maintenance (IRM) works, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspection and subsea survey operations across a number of North Sea structures and pipelines.The project will utilize Bibby Offshore’s diverse fleet capabilities, including its multi-role diving

PD&MS Group Wins $14m in Decommissioning Work

PD&MS Group secured a trio of contracts worth more than $14 million across three major North Sea late-life projects in the last six months. The latest award for the Aberdeen-headquartered company is a multimillion-pound contract from Spirit Energy to decommission the topsides on two of its unmanned Morecambe Bay gas field drilling platforms, located in the East Irish Sea. PD&MS is currently supporting similar decommissioning projects of North Sea installations for two major operators through offshore heavy lift contractor, Allseas Group S.A.

Stena Drilling Extends Inspection Contract with Sparrows

Sparrows Group has been awarded a three-and-a-half-year extension to its inspection services contract for Stena Drilling’s global fleet of drilling vessels. The contract scope includes carrying out LOLER lifting gear surveys, potential dropped objects surveys, cargo carrying unit (CCU) and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections as well as rig specific maintenance. As well as an extension to the contract, the scope has also been expanded to cover Stena’s entire fleet of seven vessels, including the Stena Don in Norway.

Centrica to Raise Morecambe Bay Gas Production

British utility Centrica will spend 60 million pounds ($77 million) to unlock an extra natural gas reserves from fields under the East Irish Sea, it said on Wednesday, helping to ease a potential shortage next winter. The project to produce the extra three billion cubic feet (bcf) will simplify the process to bring gas from offshore to the North Morecambe terminal and start later this month, Centrica said on Wednesday. It will last for nine months, with the rig campaign completed in February next year, a company spokesman said.

Sparrows Lands Crane Repair Work

Sparrows Group has been awarded a contract to fully refurbish two offshore cranes for Centrica in the East Irish Sea. The 27-year-old cranes are sited on the Morecambe field’s DP6 and DP8 platforms off the coast of Lancashire and Cumbria. Centrica announced it is set to invest up to £60 million to completely refurbish both platforms and boost overall production at Morecambe Bay. Survey Underway for Morecambe Bay LNG Project

Seabed survey company Bibby HydroMap have begun survey operations on the proposed LNG project off Morecambe Bay. The work program comprises geophysical, geotechnical and environmental surveying of the proposed pipeline route to shore and will be undertaken using a multi-vessel approach. Bibby HydroMap’s own vessels Chartwell and Eagle will perform the geophysical and environmental scope, acquiring multibeam bathymetry, side scan sonar data, sub-bottom profiler and magnetometer data, alongside benthic grab samples and visual inspection.

Centrica Energy Delivers First Production

Gas production has begun from the Rhyl gas field in Morecambe Bay, helping to secure the future of 400 North West jobs and boost energy security for the U.K. The Rhyl field, located 39km off the coast of Barrow, was first discovered in 2009 and is wholly owned and operated by Centrica Energy. Gas from Rhyl will be produced through Centrica Energy’s existing North Morecambe platform, then come onshore to its Barrow terminal complex by pipeline for processing.
