Sino-Danish Focus on Energy Efficient Ships
A delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Industry is visiting Denmark as part of the cooperation between the two Administrations. A Danish-Chinese workshop on energy efficient ship design and marine equipment will be held during the three-day visit. Imtech Marine Signs on to Stay at Innovation Center
Imtech Marine, the maritime technologies arm of the recently bankrupt Royal Imtech N.V., announced it has signed on for a prolonged stay at the RDM Innovation Dock where technical students work to develop new maritime technologies such as autonomous and emission free sailing. According to Imtech Marine, Rotterdam’s position in the maritime market makes it “the perfect place to invest in a greener future” and “raise interest of technical talents to come and work in the maritime sector,” the company said in a press release.

ClassNK Approves Niigata’s Dual-fuel Engine
ClassNK granted type approval to the new 28AHX-DF dual-fuel engine built by Niigata Power Systems Co., Ltd. Whilst the adoption of emerging maritime technologies can prove challenging due in part to the time required to gain approval, ClassNK’s streamlined approval process has allowed it to complete the design approval, trial operational testing, and the overhaul inspection of the 28AHX-DF in just a couple of months before granting type approval on December 24. Shipbuilding: Navigator Holdings Orders Two LPG Carriers
Navigator Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: NVGS) announced that it has ordered two 22,000 cubic meter semi-refrigerated liquefied gas carriers at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in South Korea at a construction cost of $51 million each. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered in January and March 2017 respectively. These two LPG vessels will operate on agreed time charters for an initial term of five years from delivery, with a charterer’s option, exercisable prior to the delivery of the vessels, to extend the term for an additional five years – making them each ten year time charters.

Havyard Group ASA submitted an updated application for listing of its shares on Oslo Børs, alternatively Oslo Axess, on 6 June 2014. It is expected that the stock exchange will consider the application in a meeting of its board of directors on 18 June 2014. Subject to approval of the application and compliance with the listing criteria, the first day of trading is expected to be 26 June 2014.
