A new web-based tool is being used for the first time offshore for collecting, systematizing and presenting safety critical information on the Goliat platform in the Barents Sea.The system, developed by Eni Norge in cooperation with Safetec and SINTEF, measures and monitors more than 10,600 technical components in real time.The solution reflects several years of intensive work in the industry to develop better methods and systems for risk management.

Wood Group Bags Hess Contract in Malaysia

Wood Group has been awarded a five year contract with Hess Exploration & Production Malaysia. The operations and maintenance contract is to support Hess' new-build fixed and floating offshore facilities in the North Malay Basin development area located approximately 150km north east of the Peninsular Malaysia, and includes a one-year extension option. Delivered by Wood Group's Kuala Lumpur office, the contract will support up to 130 new full-time positions in Malaysia.

ABS, Golar Strike FLNG Deal

ABS Group subsidiary Genesis Technology Solutions, Inc. (GenesisSolutions) won a contract by Golar LNG to develop an intelligent maintenance strategy for the company’s new fleet of floating LNG (FLNG) vessels usingthe GoFLNG floating liquefaction technology. ABS Group will assist Golar LNG with implementing the Maximo computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support its asset management program.

Semple, Utt Join Teekay Board of Directors

Teekay Corporation announced today that Alan Semple and Bill Utt have each accepted an invitation to join Teekay's Board of Directors, effective immediately. The maintenance of blowout preventers (BOPs) has significant financial, logistical and safety implications for drilling operators and rig owners. DNV GL has now established a Joint Industry Project (JIP) to develop a risk-based maintenance methodology with the aim to deliver more effective and cost-efficient BOP maintenance.
