The massive Simandou iron ore mine could end Australia's golden age of iron ore, or it can start a new one. Russell

It is overused to the point of being meaningless. But the Simandou mine, located in Guinea, West Africa is a game changer. It is expected that the full 120 million tons of cargo per year capacity will be reached fairly quickly. The four Simandou blocks are impressive for their size and infrastructure challenges. They boast a 620-kilometre rail line (384-mile) as well as a new port that has dedicated vessels to transship bulk carriers offshore. Simandou, however, is not just a technical marvel. It will also meet about 10% of China's annual seaborne imports, which are the largest in the world. China takes around 75% of all seaborne iron ore.

AET Grows in Brazil

With the ongoing development of deepwater pre-salt plays and a decreased demand on local content in tankers and other vessels, Brazilian national operator Petrobras and other super-majors have been looking abroad for better rates and reliable operators of shuttle tankers. Buckeye to Acquire 50% of VTTI Marine Terminal

Buckeye Partners LP, which operates pipelines and other transportation and storage assets for liquid petroleum products, said it bought a 50 percent stake in the marine terminal company  VTTI BV for $1.15 billion. VTTI is a unit of Vitol Group. The deal is expected to close in early January 2017. VTTI will be 50% indirectly owned by Buckeye and 50% indirectly owned by Vitol. It is intended that the joint shareholding of Buckeye and Vitol will add greater strategic value to VTTI and will further strengthen VTTI's position as a leading independent provider of energy storage solutions.
