Japan Takes the Lead on Ammonia as Maritime Fuel
Late last year Japanese maritime leaders – Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), Japan Engine Corporation, IHI Power Systems Co., and Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. – signed a series of contracts to buid the world's first ammonia-fueled medium gas carrier (AFMGC) equipped with Japan-make engines.
DNV GL Okays New Floating Power Generation Concept
DNV GL has given IHI Corporation Approval in Principle (AiP) for its FLPS (Floating LNG Power Station) concept. The formal handover of the Approval in Principle took place in Tokyo on July 5. The design has been found to comply with DNV GL class standards and other relevant industry standards.

MOL Ink Deal to Build, Charter 300m LNG Carrier
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) inform it has signed a Head of Agreement on joint ownership and 20-year charter contract for a newbuilding LNG carrier with Tokyo LNG Tanker Co., Ltd. At the same time, MOL signed a contract with Japan Marine United Corporation to build the new vessel. The ship is slated for completion in 2017.
