Simmons Edeco Sells European Well Integrity Division

Simmons Edeco, supplier of onshore drilling and workovers, wellhead maintenance services and asset integrity solutions, said it has sold its Simmons Edeco Europe well integrity service division to Well-Centric Oilfield Services, a member of the FrontRow Energy Technology Group.According to the Calgary-based oilfield service company, the decision to sell the division is timely. “The sale coincides with strategic plans to focus our people and capital on our core business of onshore drilling and workover services for global energy customers,” said Niels Versfeld, CEO of Simmons Edeco.

Fugro Secures E&P Support Contracts

Fugro has won three contracts with BHP Petroleum (Deepwater) Inc., which see the company delivering a range of specialist services to support exploration and production operations in Trinidad and Tobago and the Gulf of Mexico.Within Trinidad’s Block 3(a) Fugro is providing geophysical and geotechnical services from dedicated vessels to support the development of the Ruby field. From its deepwater survey vessel, Fugro Searcher, Fugro will conduct 3DHR seismic surveys, seabed clearance and shallow hazards surveys, a flowline corridor survey and a shallow geotechnical survey.

STATS Group Post 65% Profit Increase

Pipeline technology company STATS (UK) Ltd increased profits by 65 percent to £4.3 million ($6 million) while maintaining revenues of £30 million, ($41 million) according to its latest annual accounts lodged at Companies House.The accounts to December 31, 2017, show that despite the continued impact of low oil and gas prices, demand for the group’s isolation and intervention services remained solid with an upturn in project awards from new clients in the UK and internationally.The…

GMG Acquires Fugro’s Trenching, Cable Laying Business

Global Marine Group (GMG) will acquire Fugro’s trenching and cable laying business in exchange for an equity stake of around 24 percent in the combined business valued at $65 million, and a one year secured vendor loan of $ 7.5 million. Fugro said it will realize a gain on this transaction, valued at approximately $73 million. InterMoor Upgrades its Port Açu Facility in Brazil

InterMoor said it has added inspection and testing capabilities to its marine base at the Açu Superport in São João da Barra, northern Rio de Janeiro. Open from June 2014, InterMoor’s Port Açu facility is located on a 52,300-m2 site with a 90-m quayside, a 10-m operational draft and a back storage area of 580 m2. With the recent developments, the base now boasts a 1,000-ton test bed and can perform load and breaking test for chain, wire rope and mooring accessories up to 800t SWL.

SIMMONS EDECO, a  supplier of wellhead and valve maintenance, asset integrity solutions and onshore drilling services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that Mark Hunt has been promoted to the newly created position of Operations Manager for its European base of operations in Great Yarmouth, England. In his new role, Hunt is responsible for overseeing the strategic development of operations initiatives. Subsea training and trials facility, The Underwater Centre, is working in collaboration with Stork, a global provider of knowledge-based asset integrity services focused on the oil and gas, chemical and power sectors, to deliver a brand new one-day certified course in bolt tensioning. The ECITB approved course, MJI 21 Hydraulically Tensioned Subsea Bolted Connections, addresses a key activity which every offshore construction diver should be familiar with and will be added to the Centre’s commercial diving training suite, firstly as a standalone course.

XPD8 Seals Contracts in North Sea, Malaysia

Asset integrity management specialist XPD8 Solutions has secured more than £2.25 million in combined contract wins for work in the North Sea and Malaysia. Over a period of 12 months, XPD8 will develop the work management system, which includes asset register, maintenance program and population and analysis of ‘spares’ data for a major operator on the U.K. Continental Shelf. In the Asia Pacific region, the Aberdeen-based firm’s risk mitigation department will provide quality assurance and control services on a three-year contract with a two-year extension option.

Urgent Need to Cut Costs in UK North Sea

Britain's North Sea oil and gas industry faces a bleak future where more fields are likely to become uneconomic and shut in as platforms close - unless costs can be controlled, operators say. For some elderly platforms in the Northern North Sea, time is running out. If the industry does not get to grips with costs quickly, fresh investment is likely to dry up, forcing unsaleable rusting rigs to be abandoned. "From a cost point of view, the chickens are coming home to roost," said Tim Walsh, senior vice president, asset integrity services at Lloyd's Register Energy.

CAN-DO Approach Leads to £200m of Contract Renewals

CAN Group has secured two major contract renewals, totalling approximately £200million, following competitive re-tendering. These two contracts, coupled with an increase in business, will lead to the safe-guarding of 150 jobs. The Aberdeen headquartered business has been awarded a five year contract for the provision of asset integrity services to ConocoPhillips and a three year contract for the provision of topsides inspection and integrity support services with Apache in the North Sea. Both contracts have options to extend for up to a further four years.

XPD8 Seals Ghana FPSO Contract

Asset integrity management specialist XPD8 Solutions said it has continued its recent success in West Africa for work off the coast of Ghana. Over an 18-month period, the company will develop the maintenance program and inventory data for MODEC’s TEN MV25 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, operated on behalf of Tullow Oil. XPD8 is a company in maintenance engineering, condition monitoring and integrity services for the oil and gas sector. The company’s international reach has grown over the past 12 months to cover Europe, South East Asia and Africa.
