Van Oord lands Bilfinger Bounty

This acquisition will give a strategic boost to Van Oord’s Offshore Wind Projects business unit. The acquisition will be finalised after it has been approved by the Bundeskartellamt, the German competition authority. In addition to this acquisition, Van Oord will be investing in a significant modification of its installation vessel Aeolus. The current crane, which has a lifting capacity of 900 tonnes, will be replaced by a crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes.

Van Oord’s new DP2 cable-laying vessel, Nexus, was officially launched at Damen Shipyards Galati on June 30. Start-up Deep Sea Installation Enters FPSO Market

Deep Sea Mooring (DSM), a supplier of mooring solutions and services for the offshore industry, is backing the launch of a new, specialist business dedicated to subsea installation solutions. Deep Sea Installation (DSI), which will initially focus on the FPSO segment, is opening in Singapore with 12 highly experienced staff and an ambition to quickly establish itself in the key regional markets of Asia, West Africa and Europe. “The FPSO market is growing fast, with $99 billion forecast to be spent on floating production systems between 2014 and 2018,” commented Åge Straume, CEO of Deep Sea Mooring.
