The largest Arab country, which has the most people in it, is now a net gas importer. It has bought more than 50 cargoes this year. Plans to be a reliable gas supplier to Europe have been abandoned. Sources said that the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation is expected to announce the tender for the purchase of between 15 and twenty cargoes LNG.

Grid operator: Dutch gas reserves must be 90% full before 25/26 winter.

The Netherlands must have its gas storages at 90% capacity by the beginning of winter 2025/2026 to avoid shortages in the event of a severe cold snap, Dutch national grid operator GTS announced on Monday. Why is it important? Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Netherlands are now heavily dependent on imported gas due to the permanent closure of Groningen's major gas field. A disruption in supply could cause shortages both in the Netherlands as well as abroad.

Qatar signs another LNG supply contract with Kuwait for 15 years

Qatar has agreed to supply Kuwait for 15 years with 3 million tonnes per annum of liquefied gas (LNG). This is the second LNG deal signed since 2020, as Kuwait imports this fuel to meet the rising demand for electricity generation. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and QatarEnergy, a state-owned company, signed a long-term agreement to sell and buy LNG. KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah announced that deliveries will begin in January 2025. Last week, it was reported that QatarEnergy & KPC were in negotiations for a deal.

Groningen Gas Production Falling Faster Than Planned

Gas production at the Groningen field in the north of the Netherlands is falling faster than planned, the Dutch government said on Friday.Output at the field will fall to 15.9 billion cubic metres (bcm) in the year ending October 2020, the government said, which is 1.5 bcm lower than originally planned. The Dutch government last year said it would end production by 2030 and lower it as quickly as possible in coming years, as decades of extraction have led to a series of damaging earthquakes in the region.Demand for Groningen gas is falling as exports to Germany decline, while the Dutc

Turkmenistan Limits Natural Gas Supplies to Iran

Turkmenistan has limited natural gas supplies to Iran since Jan. 1 over unpaid past deliveries, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, a day after Iran said supplies through a cross-border pipeline had been cut off. The ministry said Ashgabat, which exports to Iran about 9 billion cubic metres of gas a year, made the move after trying unsuccessfully to collect debts from the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) since 2013. It did not disclose the amount owed. However, Iran's National Gas Company (NIGC) condemned the move by Turkmenistan as a violation of a bilateral accord.

Africa Could be Major LNG Importer by 2025 -Total

Africa could become a significant global market for imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2025, with Egypt the main driver, as more countries eye gas-to-power projects, a senior official at Total said on Tuesday. With hundreds of millions of people living without electricity in the world's poorest continent, African countries are increasingly turning to gas to take advantage of lower global LNG prices amid a supply glut. "It could be collectively a 20 to 30 million tonnes per year market by 2025…

Gas pioneer Heimdal Turns 30

For 30 years the Heimdal field has been an important gas supplier to Europe and, together with Statfjord and Gullfaks, contributed to the establishment of Statpipe. Its anniversary is being celebrated with, among other things, the publishing of the field's own biography. The biography has been written by Lars Gaute Jøssang, Professor of History at NLA University College in Bergen. The Heimdal field has a long and exciting history. It was already in 1971 that the Pan Ocean Group was awarded the production licence for the field in the second licensing round.

Ukraine to Lower 2016 Gas Imports

Ukraine is likely to cut its natural gas imports to between 11 billion and 13 billion cubic metres (bcm) this year and source it all from the European Union, bypassing Russia completely, its energy minister was quoted as saying on Wednesday. "There are different scenarios and the (existing) capacity of reverse (gas flows from the EU are) enough to cover this volume," Volodymyr Demchyshyn told the UNIAN news agency regarding 2016. Ukraine, which imported 16.4 bcm on gas last year…

PGNiG Advance Talks on Gas Prices with Gazprom

PGNiG said in May it had filed for arbitration with the Stockholm Arbitration Tribunal in a dispute over the gas price formula with its biggest gas supplier, looking to change the pricing of its long-term contract in the face of falling oil and gas prices. Much of the gas PGNiG sells in Poland comes from Gazprom. In the first half of 2015, the company imported 4.05 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas from Russia. Poland consumes around 16 bcm of gas annually. PGNiG said in May that seeking arbitration in the dispute did not rule out continued negotiations…

Britain is Wrong to Reject Fracking Application: Kemp

"The first shock of a great earthquake had, just at that period, rent the whole neighbourhood to its centre," is how Charles Dickens described the coming of the railroads to north London. "Houses were knocked down; streets broken through and stopped; deep pits and trenches dug in the ground; enormous heaps of earth and clay thrown up; buildings that were undermined and shaking, propped by great beams of wood," Dickens wrote of the railroad driven through Camden Town to connect London with Birmingham.
