DNV GL Opens New Houston Facility

DNV GL announced Thursday that it has opened a new facility in Houston to provide failure analyses that support the industry in conducting effective and efficient root cause analyses.The facility will carry out the initial steps of a failure investigation, which could include visual inspection, non-destructive testing [NDT], disassembly, cutting of components, etc. The facility will interact with DNV GL’s team of experts in Columbus, Ohio who are able to carry out further analyses…

Avalos Joins Reactive Downhole Tools

Reactive Downhole Tools, supplier of lower completion systems to the global oil and gas industry, has marked its fourth year of trading with the appointment of a business development manager for the North America region. Stacey Avalos joins the management team and will be based at Reactive’s 30,000 sq ft Houston office and facility, which was launched in 2013 and represented an investment of $5 million. Fairway Energy Finds an Extra 1 mln bbl of Crude storage at Houston Facility

Early construction of Fairway Energy Partners' Pierce Junction underground crude storage caverns in south Houston has yielded something of an unexpected geologic surprise: an additional 1 million barrels of capacity. The added space, which will bring storage capabilities at the site to 11 million barrels, is a windfall at a time when oil traders around the world are scrambling to secure a place to hold crude and wait for higher prices as a global supply glut fills available tanks to the brim.

MarkWest Shuts Penn. Natgas Plant After Lightning Strike

A MarkWest Energy Partners LP natural gas processing plant in southwest Pennsylvania was shut on Wednesday after an apparent lightning strike, according to local media reports. MarkWest Energy Partners spokesman Robert McHale said, "At approximately 6:00 p.m., during severe weather conditions, MarkWest's Houston facility was struck by lightning," according to a report on the WPXI News website. "All employees and contractors are accounted for and there are no reported injuries.
