Technology: Greenhouse Gas Emission Capture and Storage to the Fore

Greenhouse gas emissions capture and storage may be a more practical alternative to emissions reduction for meeting the IMO’s 2050 CO2 target. Tom Mulligan reports.Shipping emits close to 1 billion tons of CO2 each year and the shipping industry needs carbon-free solutions to achieve the IMO’s 2050 target of a 50 percent reduction, compared to the 2008 level, in these massive emissions.

UNEP & DNV GL Partner to Combat Climate Change

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) & DNV GL inform they have joined in a new strategic partnership, designed to assist the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), hosted by UNEP, aiming to improve access to climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies in developing countries. The Norwegian Government will support the CTCN with NOK 60 mill. in the period 2013-2015.

DNV GL Opens New Vietnam Office

DNV GL announced that it has moved into a new office that was officially opened by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and Henrik O. Madsen, Group President & CEO, DNV GL. The official ceremony was part of the program of the Norwegian trade delegation visiting Vietnam this week. Besides the Crown Prince, the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Fisheries, Monica Mæland also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Tørstad Named DNV GL - Oil & Gas CEO

Elisabeth Tørstad has been appointed CEO in DNV GL - Oil & Gas. She took on the role from January 2014, operating from the company’s Oil & Gas headquarter in Oslo. “I am very pleased to announce that Elisabeth Tørstad has accepted this role.
