Safeway Wins W2W Deal with Heerema to Support Huge Taiwan Offshore Wind Farm

Safeway won a contract from Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) to supply a Safeway Seagull type motion compensated gangway system for installation on the CSV Normand Baltic.The contract is significant for Safeway as it is the first contract for HMC, and it is also the first time the Safeway Seagull system with 3D crane function will be deployed to transfer personnel and cargo during an offshore wind project in Taiwan.Heerema was awarded a promising contract for a very large wind farm off the coast of Taiwan. The scope of work involves the transport and installation of one hundred eleven (111) turbine foundations as well as the installation of two large offshore substations.

Steelwind Monopile Foundations for Parkwind's Baltic Sea Wind Farm

Dutch company Heerema Fabrication Group has won a contract to build pre-piling templates for the Greater Changhua offshore wind developments in Taiwan.A pre-piling template will be delivered to the company's compatriot Heerema Marine Contractors to assist with the installation of the offshore wind turbine piles accurately. The template will consist of 3 pile sleeves connected by framing including hydraulically adjustable pile guides and mud mats. Pintsch Bubenzer Brakes for Semi-Submersible

Pintsch Bubenzer installed a series of Twin Safe TS800 brakes on two 10,000-metric ton (22 million pound) capacity cranes and auxiliary hoists aboard a giant semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) that has recently completed its maiden voyage.The self-propelled heavy-lift and deep-water construction vessel Sleipnir, part of Heerema Marine Contractors’ fleet, is over 700 ft. long and is designed to work on large offshore projects such as installing and removing jackets, topsides, deep-water foundations, moorings and other offshore structures, such as windmills.

Xodus Appoints Phil Cooper as New Director

Xodus Group, an energy consultancy, appointed Dr. Tao Zhao as its new advanced engineering lead.With more than 15 years’ experience in subsea pipeline and riser design and analysis, Dr. Zhao joins Xodus from Heerema Marine Contractors. Throughout his career, he has provided a range of analysis for offshore contractor and engineering consultants in both Thailand and the UK.The appointment of Dr. Zhao follows the recent additions of David Livermore and Gareth Jones.Livermore joins as a technical safety and human factors consultant, who specializes in the human element of risk.

First Johan Sverdrup Topside Installed

With the last module of the Johan Sverdrup riser platform lifted into place, the first of four topsides of the next North Sea giant has been installed.“It’s a special feeling to see the first Johan Sverdrup platform in place, even a few days ahead of the plan set more than three years ago – all without any serious incidents along the way. This is a testament to the high quality in execution of the project so far, which again is a result of the good collaboration between thousands of people at our suppliers, partners and Statoil,” said senior vice president for Johan Sverdrup, Kjetel Digre.

Containerized Control Room Delivered for SSCV Thialf

ELA Container Offshore GmbH delivered an offshore office container to Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), a marine contractor in the international offshore oil and gas industry. The container was placed on board semisubmersible crane vessel (SSCV) Thialf and was used as a control room to operate their anchor winches. The Thialf is HMC's largest SSCV, capable of a tandem lift of 15,600 tons. Its two cranes provide for a depth reach lowering capability as well as a heavy lift capacity to install topsides. Compressor supplier Tamrotor Marine Compressors (TMC) has been awarded a contract by Sembcorp Marine to supply compressed air systems to the new build Heerema Sleipnir crane vessel. The scope of work includes manufacturing and delivery of a complete marine compressed air system, including Smart Air service air compressors, service air dryers, control air compressors and control air dryers. VRC System Ordered for SSCV Sleipnir

Heerema Marine Contractors has chosen Emerson Automation Solutions to provide a valve remote control (VRC) system for the world’s largest semi-submersible offshore crane vessel, SSCV Sleipnir, currently under construction at Sembcorp Marine’s shipyard in Singapore. The 220-meter-long vessel is designed for the installation and removal of large offshore structures, such as oil and gas platforms, subsea production facilities, foundations, moorings, and deep water floating structures. Each of the ship’s two revolving cranes is capable of lifting up to 10,000 metric tons.

Culzean Wellhead Jacket and Access Deck Set Sail

Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has completed the project for the Culzean Wellhead jacket and Access Deck for client Maersk Oil. April 13 at Heerema Vlissingen, the Netherlands the Wellhead jacket and April 11 at Heerema Hartlepool, U.K. Wellhead Access Deck set sail to their final destination: the Ultra High Pressure High Temperature Culzean development field in the U.K. sector of the North Sea, where Heerema Marine Contractors will perform the installation. On October 21, 2014, Maersk Oil awarded HFG the Procurement & Construction contract for the Culzean Wellhead jacket, the Wellhead Access Deck and the Access ways.

Huldra Platform Recycling Contract Awarded

Hereema Marine Contractors Nederland SE will remove the platform and transport it to shore, while AF Offshore Decom AS has been awarded the contract for disposal and recycling of the platform. The Huldra field is a Statoil- operated gas and condensate field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, North East of Bergen. The field came on stream in November 2001 and on plateau the field produced 10, 3 MSm3/day. The gas and condensate production was closed down September 3, 2014. Previously the jack up rig West Epsilon has been awarded the contract for plugging the six wells at Huldra during 2016.

Saipem Faces Falling Margins and New Rivals

Italian oil contractor Saipem faces new challenges after raising 3.5 billion euro ($3.8 bln) to stay afloat, as rising competition in its lucrative pipe-laying business threatens margins and orders. Oil services firms have been among the hardest hit by a two-thirds drop in oil prices since July 2014 as oil producers slashed spending by more than $100 billion. The timing could not be worse for Saipem's ageing vessel fleet as rival new capacity erodes typically high margins enjoyed by the company, which is controlled by oil major Eni and Italian state fund FSI.

Statoil: Building Block for Johan Sverdrup Installed

The first piece of the Johan Sverdrup development has now been completed and installed on the field in the North Sea. It was Heerema Marine Contractors’ crane vessel “Thialf” that completed the installation of the 280-tonne pre-drilling template on the Johan Sverdrup field. “We have completed and installed the first piece of one of the largest industrial projects in Europe. We still have a long journey ahead in the Johan Sverdrup development, but we are very pleased that we have completed and installed the subsea template without serious incidents and according to plan.

SeaZip Offshore Service Commences Operation

Harlingen-based SeaZip Offshore Service has entered into a partnership agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC). HMC, the world's market leader in transporting, installing and dismantling offshore oil and gas installations, has contracted service vessel SeaZip 4 for its annual project activities in the North Sea for the coming summer months. SeaZip Offshore Service is thus getting off to a successful start in the international oil and gas industry. Delivered early this year, SeaZip 4 is the fourth Damen Fast Crew Supplier 2610 in the SeaZip Offshore Service fleet. She is one of the first ‘Twin Axe Bow’ service vessels to be deployed in the offshore oil and gas industry.

DOF Subsea Secures Contract Extension

DOF Subsea UK Limited  has announced that its survey and positioning business in the U.K. and U.S. has been awarded an extension of a Master Service Agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors of Leiden, The Netherlands.   The contract covers global provision of survey and positioning services on board Heerema Marine Contractor’s vessels, including the Hermod, Balder, Thialf, Aegir and support vessels/anchor handlers.

New DNV GL Recommended Subsea Lifting Standard

The completion of a joint industry project (JIP) to improve existing standards and regulations around subsea lifting operations has resulted in a new recommended practice (RP). The recommended practice developed by DNV GL, the leading technical adviser to the oil & gas industry, provides guidance on the proper design and correct operation, as well as regular inspection and maintenance, of subsea cranes and lifting appliances. The aim is to reduce the overall risk and safeguard personnel during lifting operations and to improve the integrity and efficiency of equipment throughout its lifetime.

Big Abandonment & Recovery Missions Offshore for AF

AF Group's wholly owned subsidiary, AF Decom Offshore UK Limited, has in a consortium with Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland SE (Heerema AF Consortium), entered into an agreement with CNR, Canadian Natural Resources International (UK) Limited for decommissioning of the Murchison platform in the UK North Sea. MoU includes a major contract for engineering, preparatory, removal and recycling (EPRD) of both tires and steel foundations, in all, a combined weight of more than 37,000 tons. 2H Offshore Secures Contract for Block 32 Project

2H Offshore, an Acteon company, has been appointed by Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) to engineer hybrid risers for Total’s Kaombo Block 32 project. HMC, together with consortium partner Technip, were awarded the contract for the EPCI and precommissioning of the SURF scope for the Kaombo development by Total. 2H Offshore has been pioneering riser analysis, design and engineering for more than 20 years and with this capability and experience, 2H will perform part of the detailed engineering of the 18 Single Top Tensioner Risers (STTRs) selected for the Kaombo development.
