Rigmarine Diversifies in Kazakhstan

Rigmarine has highlighted synergies between inland and offshore industries as the lifting and marine product specialist looks to meet increasing demand from the mining and power industries via its Aktau, Kazakhstan facility. Rigmarine has four global locations—others are in Baku, Azerbaijan; Sharjah, UAE; and Aberdeen, Scotland—all strategically positioned to serve offshore oil and gas, renewables, construction, break bulk, shipping and marine industries. However, the economic climate in Kazakhstan, in particular, lends itself to diversification.

Kalmar, SSAB Partnership to develop Fuel Cell Forklift

Kalmar today announced that it will start cooperation with SSAB in Sweden to develop a hydrogen-powered medium-range forklift truck. The aim is to find a more sustainable solution for our customer SSAB and help them to contribute in diminishing carbon dioxide emissions at the site. The forklift truck to be developed will have a lift capacity of 9-18 tons and it will use hydrogen gas as fuel. As the exhaust will be only water, the machine will provide a more environmentally sound solution for material handling. The project will last for approximately two years and it will include the development, demonstration and testing of the forklift truck.

Kraken Oil Project Gets Custom Subsea Spreaders

Heavy lifting equipment and engineering specialist Modulift announced it has manufactured two custom subsea spreader beams for the subsea construction company currently conducting a large-scale engineering, procurement, installation and construction contract for EnQuest’s Kraken development, one of the largest subsea heavy-oil field projects under development in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. The below-the-hook equipment manufacturer delivered the 303t capacity, 6.8m span spreaders to its customer on site, where the scope of work includes template and manifold installation at three drill centers.
