Opedal Tapped for Top Spot at Equinor

The Equinor Board of Directors appointed Anders Opedal as its new president and CEO starting November 2, 2020. Eldar Sætre will retire after six years as CEO and more than 40 years in the company.Opedal ascends to the top spot coming from the position as Executive Vice President Technology, Projects and Drilling.

West Hercules to Drill More Exploration Wells

Seadrill Norway Operations Limited has been awarded a contract for drilling two exploration wells for Equinor in the Barents Sea by use of the West Hercules rig. Drilling is scheduled to start in the spring of 2019.The contract includes options for drilling nine additional wells. The rig is primarily assigned for exploration drilling.

Equinor Awards Light Well Intervention Contract to Akofs

Akofs Offshore has been awarded a contract for light well intervention services using the Akofs Seafarer vessel for all Equinor-operated licences in the period 2020 to 2025.Equinor is the operator of about 560 subsea wells on stream on the Norwegian continental shelf. The wells require maintenance, repairs and new production actions.

Statoil Awards $1.5 Bln Drilling Contracts

Statoil has awarded drilling contracts to Archer, KCA Deutag and Odfjell Drilling for drilling, completion, intervention services, plugging, maintenance and modifications on 18 of Statoil’s fixed platforms. The contracts take effect from October 1, 2018, initially for a period of four years. The total value is estimated at more than NOK 12 billion ($1.5 billion).

West Phoenix to Drill in UK and Norway

Statoil Contracts West Hercules Rig

The West Hercules semi-submersible rig has been contracted for drilling two exploration wells in the Barents Sea in 2018, and options to drill another five exploration wells. Statoil and the licence partners have signed a contract with North Atlantic Norway Ltd for use of the 6th generation West Hercules rig.

Statoil Awards Norwegian Continental Shelf Drilling Contract

Statoil has, on behalf of relevant licensees, exercised options for previously awarded drilling service contracts for fixed installations. Options have been exercised for 17 installations on the Norwegian continental shelf. In 2012 Statoil awarded contracts for four years with options for three times two-year extension to Archer, KCA Deutag and Odfjell.

Integrated Drilling Service Agreement to Schlumberger

Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for the Norwegian continental shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord , Tordis/Vigdis, Visund. The agreement also covers exploration drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).
