Qatargas Inks Deal to Deliver LNG to Austria's OMV

State-run Qatargas on Wednesday agreed a sale and purchase deal with Austrian oil and gas group OMV to deliver up to 1.1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually for five years. From January 2019, the gas will be provided by Qatar Liquefied Gas Co, a venture between Qatar Petroleum and Shell . Netherlands to Receive LNG from Sabine Pass Plant

The Netherlands will receive its second-ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass export facility in the United States on Oct. 6, according to shipping data. The vessel, with a capacity of 166,031 cubic metres, is currently berthed at Sabine Pass, live ship-tracking data shows. The first delivery from Sabine Pass to the Gate terminal in Rotterdam arrived on June 8 aboard the Arctic Discoverer, a Thomson Reuters analyst said.

European Utilities Sit on Prize Assets Ahead of LNG Glut

European utilities are expected to take center stage when a wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) hits Europe starting next year, as long unprofitable import capacity soars in value and bolsters their clout in the global trade. Under-used LNG import terminals in Britain, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain, where the majority of import rights are held by utilities, are set to see more action, assuming gas prices can stay competitive.

Global LNG Prices Pick Up

Asian liquefied natural gas (LNG) spot prices for August delivery rose on Friday as supplies tightened and traders manoeuvred cargoes between Atlantic and Pacific basins to cover short positions. End-user demand, however, remained muted. The price of Asian spot cargoes rose to $7.70 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), from $7.55 the previous week. Bids for August were in the high $7/mmBtu range while offer prices were at $8/mmBtu or above, three traders said.

Global LNG Price Slide Resumes on Weak Demand

Asian spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices for July fell this week on continued weak demand and ample supply. The price of Asian spot cargoes slid to $7.40 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), compared with around $7.70 per mmBtu last week. There was supply availability from Russia's Sakhalin export plant, which launched a tender to sell four cargoes spread across July, August and September last week.

Rotterdam Gate LNG Terminal Expansion Started

Dutch gas network operator Gasunie and tank storage service provider Vopak said on Monday that the expansion of their Gate liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Rotterdam has begun. The new infrastructure is expected to aid the use of LNG as a transport fuel and is expected to be operational towards the end of the first half of 2016. Gate receives, stores, regasifies and delivers LNG into northwest Europe's grid.
